An oven thermometer is essential item for a hobby baker, because the heat from most household ovens do not match the temperature on the knob and can be out by as much as 50 degrees!! This has massively improved the outcome of my cakes. I love that this has both celcius and fahrenheit - useful when using an American recipe as no need to convert. This is the third oven thermometer I have bought and my fave so far. Be careful not to drop them as that can cause them to lose their accuracy and show invalid temperatures. Can be hung on oven rack or stand up by itself on the bottom.

Works very well for sourdough baking.

Good product. A bit small but does the job. You don't need to use this every time you use the oven, as you will get to know what your oven temperature higher or lower. Mine was out by nearly 20% I was amazed. My baking is much better now. No more Burt cakes. I even did french macaroons. My first attempt without using this great gadget was useless. Just don't leave this item in with your cooking it will get very dirty after a while you won't be able to read the Dial. Just remove with some tongs before you put in whatever you are baking. To use this item, stand up in middle of oven until your temperature is what you require. Then remove after adjusting your oven temperature.

When tested against a mercury thermometer this is several degrees out. OK for approximate temperatures but not when great accuracy is needed.

Bought this expensive thermometer to compare with a cheaper alternative. Both display similar readings but this one is certainly the most accurate and easiest to read. Packaging and delivery were both excellent.

Something was definitely awry with our Zanussi oven. When using the temperatures and times advised on packaging, things were always overdone. Using this oven thermometer I was able to discover that the oven was 20 degrees hotter than the given setting between 125 and 225 Centigrade. Things now make sense and baking has had much of the guesswork taken out of it. The hanger is really useful, but the scale could be a little larger. A really useful gadget - and even if it never comes out of the kitchen drawer again, it has paid for itself already.

Very accurate unit. My oven was 11 degrees out. (too high ). I then had the thermometer tested just to be sure and it is on the button. As a result, I now turn the oven temperature down accordingly and the bonus is I save money on my electricity bill. Spread over a 12 month period it adds up.

Excellent piece of equipment, well made but reasonably priced. Having used it in my oven it appears to verify that the temperatures achieved in the oven are totally accurate. Will have to try it in a different oven to see whether the accuracy is maintained. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other method by which the accuracy can be checked.

The best oven thermometer. Stainless steal always clean. Perfect double option of usage, standing perfectly on the oven tray or hangs from the rack. The big screen allows to read the temp without having to open oven door

Measures good. The standing part is very small, it's not easy to fix it when you hold it with glove.

We were having issues with the termperature in our electric stove and so I got two thermometers (to test them off against each other) but while we are awaiting the second one (it comes tomorrow) we did test this one and it proved that the oven is not reading correctly -- the second thermometer will really clinch that finding, assuming they agree. This unit is inexpensive, simple and feels well made. Recommended.
