THE PERFECT GIFT FOR EVERY CHEF OR COOKING ENTHUSIAST – EVERY KITCHEN SHOULD HAVE ONE! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – Culinary Obsession’s Chef’s Knife Question: What size is this knife? Answer: The overall length of this chef’s knife is just over 13”, with 7-1/2” exposed blade length and 1-3/4” blade width. Question: Can this knife be washed in the dishwasher? Answer: Yes, both the Pakkawood handle and 4116 stainless steel are made to withstand water, detergents, and high temperatures. However, to make your knife last a lifetime, the recommended best practice is to wash by hand instead. Question: The last knife I purchased made my hand tire quickly. What makes this knife better? Answer: Our knife is specifically designed for enhanced ergonomics, comfort, and durability. My father, who has arthritis in his hands, loves using this knife because it’s a lot more graspable and better weighted than his previous all-purpose chef’s knife. Question: I’ve had a lot of knives in the past that don’t retain their sharpness for very long. What makes this knife different? Answer: Unlike other competitors in this price range, our blade is NOT high carbon steel. While high carbon steel may sound fancy (and thus has become trendy recently), it actually dulls quickly and isn’t nearly as resistant to rust. Our special 4116 Krupp Stainless Steel from Germany is the highest quality stainless steel used only by upper-end knife manufacturers. Fine grained and commonly used in the medical industry, the perfect balance of carbon and chromium content has proven excellent for kitchen cutlery due to superior corrosion resistance, excellent edge retention, and impressive physical strength.

Cuts through Everything Like Butter!
I bought this knife because someone recommended it to me and I am so happy I purchased it! First of all, the box is really nice. It’s totally giftable to anyone who needs a knife because the box is all pretty in the inside. When I first used it, I can’t help but notice how comfortable it feels in my hand and how easily it cuts through everything I tried. I cut up watermelons, cantaloupes, and pineapples with this baby and it was like slicing butter. The knife itself also looks very aesthetically pleasing, so you’re gonna want to clean it up as soon as you’re done using it. I’m sure in the right hands and with proper care, this knife will last a long time.

Nice kit, decent chef knife
This knife is evidently from a contract manufacturer who turns out similar knives with different grades of steel and sharpened in different styles, but they are all closely similar. Be that as it may, this is a great starter chef knife. I have not had it long enough to say something meaningful about edge retention, but certainly it is nice and sharp, and I have not had to touch it up, though I always run a new knife over a strop first. This particular knife is made from 4116 Krupp Stainless Steel, and that is decent enough for a kitchen knife. Relatively easy to maintain, with reasonable edge retention. The knife is nice and thin at the spine. Good for fine work with veggies. A solid beginner's knife.

Hands down a fantastic blade for the price
Hands down a fantastic blade for the price. I work as a line cook and have had this blade for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. It feels more like an extension of your arm than holding a knife. For a blade this size it's very lightweight and well balanced. It has a very thin thickness on the blade and it just glides through anything you cut. Definitely a solid knife at this price point.

The tenderizer is a must have for those who enjoy a tender steak.
The only thing I didn't like about it was that it is two separate pieces welded together. I purchased this to go with my mother's knives, and the knives are molded from a solid piece of medal. Other than that, the knife is awesome. It was very sharp upon arrival and the tenderizer is wonderful. It makes even the toughest cut of meat easy to eat. Would definitely recommend this product.

Nothing special - underwhelmed and initially unimpressed. - Very nice for the right price.
This was nicely packaged and does come with the two "free items" (neither of which is of any import to me) but only time will tell if this was a regrettable purchase or even if the blade will hold an edge. That being said, it was very sharp out of the box and I think that I will use it for a bit then update this review later. Most likely it will become something that my wife might use as she seems to prefer a blade that feels this light, whereas I like a bit more heft. While the overall feel of a knife is very personal, without holding it in your hand before purchase there isn't a way to know if it is a good fit for you or not.All that being said, this knife seems okay but really is nothing special initially to note. I think my money might have been better spent on a comparable item made in China from a different manufacturer. We purchased a small cleaver around Christmas from TUO: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GKZ36AYand we continue to be amazed at how well it performs in the kitchen. I'm truly impressed, especially for the money as I was not really expecting much for the price from a cheap, Chinese made blade.I was going to purchase a chef's knife from the same manufacturer in the same series because we are so impressed with the quality of their cleaver but I wanted to buy a knife made from 4116 Krupp Stainless Steel. Unfortunately, this item is one of the only two listed on Amazon that notes that steel in their description. I don't know whether that is really what steel that it's made of since their blade is not stamped with any makers mark noting it as such, I'll have to take them at their word. Other than being stubborn and wanting one made with that particular steel, there seem to be quite a number of other blades that would have probably been a better value here on Amazon. With this knife in particular I am sadly not surprised at the overall product as I did not really expect much from a cheap import but I was hoping for a slightly better blade. It should be noted that there is also a slight (barely noticeable) defect along the spine of the blade that further illustrates their lack of QA. Would I buy it again? No. Would I recommend you buy it? Not really. If you are looking for a cheap chef's knife at a ridiculous price, maybe look at something like https://www.amazon.com/Knife-Kitchen-knife-Carbon-inches/dp/B07F1LM4HVYes I KNOW this example is a carbon blade (and therefore requires more care and can rust) but I have very little faith that this knife I just purchased and am reviewing here is a better steel for more than 3x that price. I will check back in a bit as the knife gets used and will note how it performs, holds an edge and sharpens, etc.Final update - this was adjusted (9/2/18) to 4 stars in consideration of the money spent for the product received. For the adjusted price it would be hard to find a comparable quality knife.

I received an empty, unsealed box.
This was shipped in the magnet-closure box in the picture with no sticker to seal it closed even. The box arrived empty.

Good Product
First, the knife is sharp. I have used it to cut vegetables, fruits, and beef, and it all worked well. However, after using it for a few days, some marks were left on the side of the knife from ordinary use. The knife holding the box says "made in China," and there weren't any information paper inside the box to suggest that the blade is actually German steel. Nonetheless, I think the performance of the knife speaks for itself. It does a good job and I'm happy with my purchase. I will update the review to include information on edge retention in the future because it's too soon to tell right now.
