The 'Classic' does a very good job, having said that if you want gold ...
I am not sure what product the lower star reviewers were using, however, I suspect not 'Classic', which at nearly ยฃ20 is x4 more expensive then the rest of the range. The 'Classic' does a very good job, having said that if you want gold then go for the real thing, which comes at a price and is easily messed up if you are not practised whilst this product is so easy to apply.

Brilliant!
Used to repaint unreadable faded lettering on a memorial stone. Excellent bright gold finish.

As good as real gold.
Brilliant good product, lovely shiny finish - who says that it isn't real gold!! Used to add interest to a piece of turned wood. Looks great

Gold Metallic Paint
I wanted to renovate a picture frame, and I bought this product to experiment with. I used a small brush and found the paint easy to apply, once I got used to the consistency of it. It's best not to overload the brush, particularly because the paint is runny. It also dries fairly quickly. I applied one coat and there is about half a pot of paint left over for another project. My main aim was to make the frame look shabby chic. When the paint had dried properly, I gave the frame a brush over with a wire brush (sandpaper also works). The brushing/sanding took the edge off the shininess - and I got the result that I was hoping for. Interesting paint - I enjoyed using it and I've now got the confidence to experiment with the other colours that are available.

Classic quality
I have been using this product now for well over 20 years and the quality and the end results are consistently excellent. I have used it to touch up antique picture frames and recently sold an 18th century painting in an old masters sale in London for almost ยฃ4k where the frame had been restored using Liquid Leaf (renaissance).

Three times the price on Amazon
Art shops stock this for ยฃ10-15. It's a great product but infinitely better value anywhere else apart from Amazon.

easiest gold "leaf" ever!
I purchased this for applying a gold leaf effect to some silver jewellery. Although this isn't real gold leaf the effect is very similar, a little more matte than gold leaf but I actually prefer this. The precision of using paint with a fine brush also gives much more control when working in small and intricate areas. As I didn't sand down the silver before, the paint is flaking off a little after a few months of wear, but as I only needed the effect temporarily this isn't a problem for me - if you want it to last more permanently, it's worth preparing the surface carefully and purchasing the windsor and newton varnish to create a protective top coat.
