My son got married three years ago, and he'd never done more than fry an egg. University years passed with a large bowl that held six weetabix and a pint of milk. His new wife - a seasoned cook - announced that Monday would be her dance cless and Thursday her yoga group. So, for my son it was 'man up' or starve. He has lost a bit of weight, but last time I went round for a meal, he was showing clear evidence of being well domesticated.

Great book with some nice recipes

I bought for my son to inspire him to cook more. But we are in the UK and bought from Amazon UK but it’s a very American book. It’s well written and nice pictures, but as with many cookbooks on Amazon it is full of American ingredients. Some can be translated, but I can’t buy Mexican cheese, banana peppers or bison near me! It would help if American cookbooks were clearly labelled as such! You have to have some experience and confidence as a cook to know how to swap ingredients in and out, and I thought this was supposed to be aimed at novices.
