Decent zero drop road to trail shoe
I was looking for an alternative to my Salomon Speedcross shoes that I could also use on packed trails and the occasional tarmac without loss of abrasion to the sole. I am also a recent convert to zero drop shoes but I didn't want to compromise on cushioning too much. These Altra are excellent. I love the wide toe box and how well they fit overall. They are also tru to size, which is always an advantage when buying online.

Keep On Running!
The media could not be loaded. My Dad was a Runner and I started Running about 18 months before his passing back in around 2008. In 2010 I ran the London Marathon raising money for the local Severn Hospice and in memory of my Dad. Since then I’ve Religious done a couple of long 8 mile runs every week, so without blowing my own trumpet, I’d like to think I know a little bit about Running and the Footwear that allows me to do this? - In fact, since my first proper run all those years ago, I’ve got through 24 pairs of Running Trainers, as I try and change them every 500 Miles. I’ve tried different Running Brands in the past such as Nike, Asics and Saucony etc, but until now had never actually heard of “Altra”? I did a bit of research online and to my surprise they’re being sold everywhere and in all the big running retailer outlets. Seeing as my current trainers are just reaching the 500 Mile mark and the need to be changed, I decided to take the plunge and try these Altra Outroad 2 Trail Running Shoes and so far I certainly have no regrets! Without boring you too much with all the reasons why I like this particular running shoe, I guess the overall reason is it feels and acts very much like a Road Shoe, yet has the visual Characteristics & other slight Hints of a Trail Shoe - This is absolutely Perfect for me as my normal running route where I live consists of both Road and Off-Road Trails! They also Look Good, Feel Comfortable, are relatively Light in Weight and in another 500 miles when I change them for a new pair, they won’t look too out of sorts to continue wearing as an everyday trainer. Price Wise, I never spend more than £100 on a pair of Running Trainers, so at £83.90, they’re within my budget and for the Top Quality you get with them, I’m Very Pleased with the Purchase - Now and in the Future, I think I’ll choose the “Altra” Running Brand for Trainers! Thank you.

Nicely built trainer, shame about the colour clash
Altra™ specialise in running shoes and sneakers, so when spotting these Altra Men's Outroad 2 Sneakers offered for review under the Amazon Vine programme they were ordered for my son who struggles to find size 12. No issues here. Typical of running shoes the underfoot padding is extensive at 27mm thick, and these are designed for pounding the road whilst spending time on light gravel unmade tracks too, and which would give good grip in muddy conditions. Style is lace up rather than Velcro™ and to my mind looks slightly gaudy with a quite yellow base and blue tops which in my opinion does the trainers no favours. Looking at the range the colours are all fairly distinctive, which seems to be a feature of running shoes, but it belies their £115 price point. I’d expect something that wows for that, these don’t.That said; construction and build is extremely good, with all stitching very well rendered with no obvious loose threads and a high level of padding for the pounding your feet will take which is very comfortable and cushioned indeed. The padding is particularly apparent around the heel, which will protect from blisters if you don’t tend to wear socks. There’s a loop at the rear to help pull the trainer on. The top appears to be woven with a weave that allows allow air to circulate freely, cooling the feet which given the purpose is a key design issue. The underside has a very distinctive pattern that reminded me of a mountain bike tyre and made from rubber, so offering superb grip which is particularly important when tackling uneven surfaces. The product information states that the shoe is designed with ‘natural movement’ in mind and they seem to do that. My son is pretty impressed - they don’t pinch and there is room to wiggle toes, they aren’t crushed in as can happen with some trainers. However they remain in place due to the shoe opening, which doesn’t ‘slop’ around. The laces are wide and stay securely fastened – little worse than doing your shoelaces up and finding them flapping around, particularly when trying to run. You are getting quality and an excellent level of comfort for that premium price – just a bit more consideration on the clash of blue and yellow needed which detracts from the function which is sound, and is my only reason for deducting a star.

Didn’t last 250km
I was really pleased with these shoes initially. Very comfy. However, they are disintegrating after about 250km.

My feet are living their best life in these!
I got these in the Black Red colour and i am beyond thrilled. They look even nicer than expected. These are the most comfortable trainers ever! From walking to running or simply looking fashionable they're perfect. The quality combined with comfort is shockingly good. My feet are living their best life in these!

Rather tight for given size
My shoe size is 10, so this is the size I ordered. Sadly when putting them on my big toe was very very close to the front of the trainer, and the toe box was quite tight even after loosening the laces. This meant that my toes were bunched up and pushing up into the fabric above the big toe. I cannot help but think that a hole will soon develop here, as well as the discomfort. The laces are of the 'tape' style, rather than 'round' ones, so they need careful placement in order to look right in my opinion, and they do not pull through the lace holes very well. Therefore I will not be wearing these for training, but only as a casual trainer with jeans. The grip on the bottom looks substantial, and the trainers themselves look attractive.

Reliable for every step
Having trodden various terrains, from city pavements to country trails, the comfort and stability these shoes offer are exceptional. Even after lengthy walks, my feet felt supported, without the usual fatigue. The zero drop feature was a notable benefit, encouraging a more natural foot position and stride. Durability has also impressed, with the shoes showing minimal wear after extensive use. Whether for daily wear or exploring nature, they've been a reliable choice.

Super light, super cushy, and no heel rise...
Only worn them a handful of times, but they break in easily, they feel great on your feet, and with no heel rise, they mimic being barefooted. Love em so far.

My favorite shoes right now
I've loved Altras for almost 10 years. But one thing that drives me crazy is the way they constantly change their models. So I loved Torrin for a while. Then it evolved too much for me. I moved on to Timp. Same thing. Then Escalante. Same thing.So... all that to say: this is my favorite pair of Altras right now. I'm on my second pair and I wear them for everything: hiking, running, and standing at my desk. They're just the right combination of minimal support, with a little cushion, and some good tread.I guess my one warning would be this: if you wear them to run on the road very much, the tread will wear down pretty quickly - as is the case with most trail shoes.
