Such a bargain - this was bought to test rubber formulations and works very well. Checked against a much more expensive version and it tallies well. Even comes with a spare battery!

I purchased this Shore A and a similar Shore D durometer. I bought them for onsite inspection. After my purchase I had no immediate use after a period of one year, before using, i tried to make sure they are calibrated. I sent them for calibration, and both failed. They said they are not calibratable... basically useless. They are still in pristine condition and brand new in their box. I suppose i cannot return them anyway....

Well it work, how accurate it really is I can't say but it at least gives me a comparison across sets to kart tyres.

When I opened it the facia was scratched. There was also no calibration certificate which is standard for a precision instrument. I have returned it for a refund. It appeared to be used that was sold as new.

Reliable and easy to use. All you need to do is push it into the surface and it will measure .

I am going to give it five stars with the caveat that I have no basis upon which to establish the device's accuracy other than the unverified ratings that are marked upon the test pieces. It is a much better built piece of test hardware than I was expecting. Kudos to the manufacturer! It is very easy to use, and has a very clear read-out. I am using it to gauge the hardness of Rollerblade and quad skate wheels and truck cushions. It is sure telling me plenty about the consistency of the density of the wheel at various test points. (A better quality wheel will not only register at its rated hardness, but will read out consistently across its diameter and circumference.) It also told me that there is no difference between a soft and a medium truck cushion from Sure-Grip for their Classic plates (both sets are factory new). Lastly, it has allowed me to quantify all of my 70s, 80s and 90s vintage, unmarked wheels and to stop relying on a bunch of guesses from well-meaning online posters. Well worth the price.
