GPO 162B Portable Desktop Cassette Player/Cassette Recorder with Built-in Speaker, Internal Microphone for Dictation, External Mic Socket - Silver/Black

I bought this to record my PIP assessment to shut down these prolific lying and corrupt assessors. It's not the most fantastic quality, but it does the job perfectly fine, and you can hear both of you speak, and able to distinguish who is speaking at different intervals.I had a fantastic assessor albeit, and subsequently was awarded higher rate for both components, however it could have been purely down to the fact I recorded the assessment and there was no way she could lie. I urge anyone doing an assessment to buy this x2, as it may seem like a lot to fork out when you're broke, but the potential benefits far outweigh this.

EDITAfter 9 months it no longer works at all. The sound has been getting worse and worse. Buttons now hard to press.What was just ok is now not at all. I cannot recommend.My original review was as below - but experience has made me change my mind.This recorder is really easy to work and does the job I want it to do no problem - which is recording my voice to learn lines.Have dropped a star as the sound is tinny and there is a whirring fan noise.But it does the job.

It is wired up to my cd player so when I play cassettes it sounds great. Not a lot of cop at recording. On its own the sound quality is poor. But a good buy if you intend to wire it up to your sound system.

I have wanted one of these forever for a game I'm going to play with my friends for Halloween. The cassette player is excellent, it is just a little before my generation so I am still learning to use it.Edit: I have had this cassette player for a few months now; I have realised that it is not just me that can't use it, it does not work properly. The record button does not stay down and when I do hold it, audio will not come out properly, just a bunch of static.Worse, I cannot get a refund as I have had the player for almost 2 years, I've just never really tested it as I was waiting for a Halloween where I could use it, that one's on me. I should have probably played with it sooner.

Was faulty. Had to send back straight away. Needed to record important interview and didn't work. Rubbish.

Useful for favourite cd’s

Like many looking at these old school tape players/recorders I had a PIP assessment coming up at my home. I needed the hardware to successfully record my assessment whilst not breaking the bank for equipment that could literally just be used once or twice every 5 years or so. Obviously, I needed 2 of these devices as well.Firstly, one of these devices immediately began chewing up tapes when attempting to record as the driving spindle just randomly stops rotating. The second unit also snagged up & chewed another tape during testing too due to the same fault, albeit not as frequently.Next, the external mic jacks/inputs DON'T FUNCTION AT ALL on BOTH devices I received!! I tried 4 different "proven" mics on them both, & absolutely nothing, (the tapes are rolling & the recording heads can be seen to advance on to the tape but the mic inputs just don't seem to have actually been soldered/connected up internally!) The built-in mics are also placed so close to the moving parts too with completely insufficient shielding that unless you're within 2 feet of BOTH recorders & LITERALLY SHOUTING into them, all that's picked up is a recording of the tapes/spindles actually whirring/whining round with otherwise muffled & indistinguishable mumbling in the background.The buttons are weak & fragile. When you press down simultaneously on the record/play buttons to make a recording you can see & feel the whole row of buttons moving & bowing from the light pressure. Sometimes, the rec/play buttons just repeatedly fail to click/lock down when engaged too & it takes several tries. (Even then, the next immediate issue is the working parts eating up the tapes anyway or nothing to very little is actually recorded.)These are obviously budget items & I really wasn't expecting much from them at this price point. However, I had also taken considerable time to read through 40 - 50+ reviews before purchasing given the important nature of exactly why I needed these recorders to clearly receive a completely different product to the one that others seem to have reviewed in the past! What I ACTUALLY received was SHOCKINGLY inadequate & they're quite literally worthless junk in EVERY possible sense! There's simply no way this product would have repeatedly gained a 2 star review as I received them, let alone multiple 5 star reviews which has since made me very sceptical indeed. (Yes, this product truly is THAT BAD & even its fundamental functions have utterly failed!!)Unfortunately, there is no "fulfilled by Amazon" protection on these worthless doorstops. Not only am I completely stuck with 2 of them, but I also had to emergency purchase an additional 2 x Bush tape players/recorders of the same general layout & function that did actually work as advertised & intended. These GPO devices are not as advertised & they most certainly do not function as intended. They certainly are not fit for the purpose in any stretch of the term too. Not only are they a complete waste of money, but they actually ended up costing me significantly more to purchase the additional equipment that did actually work. PURCHASE THESE GPO RECORDER'S AT YOUR OWN RISK, ESPECIALLY AT AN IMPORTANT TIME WHEN YOU JUST CAN'T AFFORD TO EXPERIENCE THIS KIND OF RUBBISH. I cannot in good faith recommend these recorders in any way whatsoever. Obviously, we can't rate an actual zero as this product truly deserves, so 1/5 it is!! Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Principalmente lo compré para hacerme copias de seguridad de mis juegos de Spectrum y y tengo que decir que funciona muy bien. Quizás se le echa en falta un contador de cinta, pero por lo demás muy bien.

L'appareil ne fonctionne pas. Obligé de le renvoyer. Et les cassettes ne sont pas fournies avec.
