The 'digital' bit is a big let down.
I find it a little strange to be writing a 3 star review for a Victorinox knife. Over the years I have collected a number of Victorinox knives including a multitool and all without exception rate 5 stars. The Traveller Lite, however, is a disappointment. Its blades and tools are of the usual excellence but the 'digital' bit is a big let down. I bought the knife because I was interested in the Barometer and Altitude functions but they are not what I expected. The barometer does not give a pressure reading; instead it just simply indicates if pressure is rising or falling. The altitude readings depend on the user 'setting up' with a known altitude and thereafter readings will relate to that setting. I have not tested the accuracy of the altitude readings extensively but I note that they are affected by temperature. The thermometer seems accurate; as long as the knife is not being handled. Whatever the 'chip' is that Victorinox has fitted I would say that it is not very sophisticated but maybe there is a limit as to what can be fitted into the knife casing. I have a Casio watch which gives full comprehensive pressure and tide readings. Another negative which I find with the Traveller is the led light. It fits very clumsily into the knife body making it bulky and adds nothing overall. The selection of blades and tools on the Traveller compare, more or less, with a Climber or Huntsman but the price of the Traveller is far far higher. I would say that the extra price is not worth the 'digital' add on. An appropriate Casio watch would serve much better for the digital stuff.

A top rank multi-tool/penknife!
The Traveller Lite was introduced in 2007, meaning that any teething problems have had twelve years to be sorted out. The led light gets grumbled about in some reviews but the current version uses an led which is pure white and though tiny, bright enough to let you find your way about on a dark night. There are also questions about how waterproof it is, I think the answer is 'good enough' for most people, with reports of the electronics still working after passing through a washing machine. Some people mention the display screen can be easily scratched - though it is very slightly recessed and I can find no photos of badly scratched screens on the internet. It's easy to set up and the choice of blades and tools is excellent with no saw, something I rarely use in practice. Build quality is far superior to almost any other multi-tools/knives, though maybe not quite as good as my Victorinox purchased in 1989 in Switzerland, which seems to have been near the pinnacle of their quality control; with perfect machining and polishing of surfaces that cannot normally be seen.Would I recommend it - Yes! With the advice to wait until it's at the bottom of one of it's price cycles on Amazon (Victorinox prices seem to go up and down like a YoYo but Amazon is by far the cheapest place to buy them new).

great gadget
great delivery. it was bought as a christmas present and has been useful many times, it is a handly little item. By the way we enquired from the police and the blade size is legal in uk and you can carry it in your pockets.

Excellent product
Excellent product. Useful digital features, very handy and useful. Note that the altimeter needs calibration against a known altitude, but that is quite standard. Highly recommended. I only wish they hadn't excluded the scissors. The white LED is also very useful.
