Is this a Chinese version and are instructions in English?

Sorry for delay in responding. Unfortunately I can't help as this was given as a present, though I don't actually remember seeing anything before I wrapped it that indicated it wasn't in English. Sorry not to be more help.

how long do the batteries last?

You have to supply the batteries and we found that the batteries did not last long. This was for a 7 yr old who was fascinated by putting it together (we helped) and playing. Though the battery life was short, the enjoyment of the toy outweighed the disappointment.

Does it have a motor? And if it does how powerful is it?

Powerful enough to drive an empty drinks can - presumably painted by you to look like a cable car compartment - to the end and back automatically until you or the child get sick of it.

Same questions - is this in Japanese? Or English?

Unsure. Instructions were in English but we no longer have the box to check whether Japanese or English.
