WINMAU Blade 5 Dual Core Professional Bristle Dartboard

When I made the decision to purchase a dartboard, I decided to go for a good quality board. Essentially this came down to a choice between the Winmau Blade 5 Dual Core, and the Unicorn Eclipse HD Pro 2. After some consideration, I decided to opt for the Winmau board.There were a few things that made me choose the Winmau board. However, if I was to pick only one reason, it would be the continued use of a traditional metal number ring. I'm pretty new to playing darts, so I don't fancy having to purchase replacement numbers.The Winmau Blade 5 Dual Core, is certainly a very good looking dartboard, with excellent inking, and a spider that ensures extremely few bounce-outs. The supplied bracket, and fixings, mean its fairly easy to hang the dartboard. The rota-lock wheels are an excellent addition. Especially if your walls aren't exactly level. The board is easy to rotate (essential for increasing longevity), and the number ring clips off and on in hardly any time.I've only been using this board for a short while, so I can't comment on how hard wearing it is. However, as with any good quality dartboard, longevity depends on many variables. To be fair, I'd guess with proper care, this dartboard should have plenty of life.Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase, and I would happily recommend this dartboard.

I’m so happy with it I have bought 2 now for different locations. It really looks the business!!! Amazingly bold & vibrant inking, precise manufacturing quality and attention to detail. Only what I would call tiny little micro-flaws that are unavoidable. The spider is super-solid and designed to encourage darts into the board. Practically zero bounce-outs due to the super-thin, angled wiring. It makes such a lovely, crisp sound when the darts go in due to the increased density and 2 levels of different sisal. It’s reassuringly heavy and solid. I love the Rotalock system which enables you to ensure the board is attached robustly with zero movement at all. I recommend sticking some of those circular, adhesive felt pads to these to help dampen any noise and protect the wall.I am honestly struggling to fault it! The holes/indentations seem to self-heal very well, and I imagine if I rotate it regularly (which is a doddle due to the fixing method), it will last a dog’s age. The problem will be the bullseye, which obviously cannot be rotated, but it’s extremely dense and durable in the centre.I can’t imagine a better dartboard on the market. Highly recommended.

Very impressed with the quality of this dartboard - the dual core construction performs exactly as described with a nice satisfying thunk on each throw and very few bounce outs (all due to lack of skill rather than the board design).The main reason for writing the review though is the superb fixing method.Once you've fixed the bracket to the wall (after spending an age getting exactly the right height for the holes in the wall - although that may just be my excessive attention to detail) you turn the three plastic dials that are screwed into the back to make sure the board is true vertically.The genius of the design is that turning these dials also pulls the board back against the fixing bracket which locks the whole board firmly in place. We've used this for a month or so now and not once has the board moved or wobbled.Well thought through design - highly recommended.

Winmau's latest update to their Blade series of boards is far better than Unicorn's latest HD2, the only visual difference is the wire divider and although the HD'2's looks the business in reality it's a pain in the arse at times!! Numbers pop off and breaks easy if a dart hits or scrapes the numbers and although spares are available I feel Winmau have stuck to the right decision not going down that path. The board itself being dual core means a soft outer layer so even if your point's are not grained or pain steel they enter easily and stay in, like those before it the HD2 is a lot harder and it doesn't take long for the bristles to appear making the board look rough, I had to change my HD2 within 4 month's due to how quick the board hardened. The dual core hear gives a lot better wear and a lot less bristles making the board look shabby, wiring is a lot thinner up to 20% on some but the strength is very good, bending or hitting the wire is inevitable but it's strong enough to withstand some good hammer and keeps it's shape very well.All in all both the Winmau Dual core and the Unicorn HD2 are on par price wise and although you may be tempted by the wire divider of the HD2, the Winmau board is far superior and better value for money!!!!!!!
