Shallow Well Pump, Cast Iron 30 Psi

Like someone who knows nothing about home maintenance, I neglected to properly protect my new irrigation well pump during a freeze in northwest Florida. Yeah, I moved from Virginia to here to get away from the cold winters, but it was so warm this January. Nothing like last year in January when, I hear, there were 20 days out of the 31 that were above 70 degrees. Anyway, I should have known better, but I let it sit and freeze. The thing broke and I needed to replace it.When I did some research, I found lots of options to replace the pump with one that matched exactly. The best deal I found was this pump, and I ordered it. The expected delivery date was pretty far out when I bought it, but I figured it was only the irrigation pump nd, even though we are technically in a drought, I figured it was worth the wait. Life's a tradeoff, and this was one more example. I checked my email a couple of days later and was surprised by the tracking that it was on my doorstep. When I got home, I was very pleased to see it here four days earlier than I had expected.The pump was very well packed in the box. It was mounted on a plywood floor that kept it from shifting during the shipment and it came to me unbroken. This thing is heavy and the extra padding around the main box was impressive. The package, although heavy, also had FRAGILE stickers on it to be sure that it wasn't thrown around by the shippers.The installation went well, with absolutely no issues. I am a it of an advanced DIYer, but this replacement could have been done by just about anyone. All you need to be is be sure to get the right pump with the proper HP. I am glad this pump was fairly new, because that probably helped make it easier for me to find the exact same type. Had I not been able to get the same brand and model number, I may have had some additional piping work to do.On a scale of 1 to 5, I give this purchase overall a BIG 5!

STA-RITE is still a product made with lasting quality. The previous one went nearly 10 years (settling adjacent to house 1/2 mile from ocean). The new one came in TWO DAYS, installed and ran perfectly. This price was over $100 cheaper from each of the three local resellers that I called. You can save a little money and go with Home Depot's cheap Everbuilt, but you will be replacing it in 2 years instead of 10! Do the math and it is a no brainier. Go with the Sta-Rite.
