Love it! Exactly what I had hoped for; very quick to get going , super simple, not a big faff like normal bbq.I’m using it as a grill on my small balcony, only a tiny bit more effort than grilling / frying on the hob. But even better because it tases bbqed and the smell of things like fish is kept out of the house.Really does get hot in 4-5 mins. Very hot to start, but you can moderate the heat a bit with the fan.It’s big enough to make a meal for 4/5 without any problem. More than that and you’d probably have to cook in stages, but mass bbq cooking is always like that anyway .Finally it’s amazingly easy to clean away when you’re done. Not cheap but worth it.

I bought on the recommendation of a friend.I have a weber barbeque but don't use it that often as there are generally only two of us and getting the whole charcoal thing going is a bit of a palaver. This is easy to light using the gel starter (which I'd suggest buying along with it) and comes up to heat really quickly. It comes apart to clean very easily and if you're using it at your house (like me) the griddle and the inside bowl fit easily into the dishwasher. I have put it into my weber barbeque and that quite readily captures the smokey flavour.It will be upto full heat in about 10 minutes from the point you know the charcoal has caught with the fan turned up full,=. You can then turn the fan down or off if you're looking to slow the process down, or leave it on and have a really hot griddle.A bit pricey, but I am confident I will get good value from it.

There is not much I can add to the praise others have left for this grill.After using it a few times though, some of my experiences might be of help.Its not really an indoor grill. It does smoke, mostly on start up.The white fire lighter gel you get in the UK does smoke, I haven't yet found the clear stuff as on youtube which appears not to smoke, also when you put the basket on you can get white smoke with the white gel which is unburnt fumes.I have used lump wood charcoal from Tesco. Its probably not the best quality, it does smoke a bit during the first ten minutes, maybe I will try some more expensive charcoal next time as you use less with this grill. Also you can get some spattering of ash if the fan is too high on start up.It is however ready within 5 minutes.You need to fill the basket each time, I tried to only half fill it once to just do a couple of pieces of chicken for two of us, but the grill seemed to struggle for heat.It is also affected by wind, it doesn't like it, the food is high up and exposed if there is a cross wind, the heat can be lost.These are not really negatives, they are my experiences and its a case of learning from those.You can put too much gel on, and I will try better quality charcoal. Once you get a full basket of glowing charcoal its brilliant, smokeless and turning the fan up and down is like turning a gas burner up and down its so fast to react.Keeping the stainless bowl clean is important, it acts in part to reflect the heat up around the grill. The searing plate does get very hot and it can be easy to get the grill in a mess. I am hoping its a good enough quality to last the test of time and scouring pads. I doubt dish washers would get the grill so clean most of the time?However, it truly is a grill you can take on a picnic and use then once the fire or charcoal is out, back in the bag and in the car etc.Its is the most modern, fast version of a BBQ yet using charcoal.For caravanning and camping its great and I suspect you would be able to use it in the awning, though i wouldn't recommend any naked flame in the tent or awning, once lit and burning smokeless you could put it on a table and cook your food infront of you.generally its fool proof but, a few tips to get the best out of a great product

Used it for the first time and we are really pleased with the results. It really is ready to use after just a few minutes. Cooked 2 steaks (one large and one smaller) and 4 vegetable skewers and the results were very good, actually I was amazed that it all cooked at the same time. Couldn't get anything else on it though (so fine for two people).One word of advice, there was an area of fat slashes round the grill, as you may expect. So probably not a good idea to place it on a table cloth when cooking.After the meal it was easy to clean, the drip pan washed really well in hot soapy water. The grill needed a bit of a scrub but then the dish washer finished it off nicely. The Charcoal burner was easy to clean also, quick brush round to loosen the ash and less than a hand full of ash to put in the bin.I would recommend this product.

Fantastic bit of kit. Very easy to light and gets to temperature in minutes. Clean and efficient. It will not cook for many people but is ideal for two to three. Outstanding heat control. A doddle to clean. Needs its recomended starting fuel and specially sized charcoal but it is worth the price for the quality of the result.

Love this grill! We are having so many BBQ’s because it is so quick and easy to use and clean! The fan is a crucial differentiator, it ensures the Lotus Grill is at cooking heat within a few minutes. It’s also very much a portable grill that is perfect for weekends away and can be carried with ease and comes with a handy carry case. It’s not cheap but it is value for money as you will be firing this up every weekend!

Impressive.Expensive but nicely made. Really does get up to temperature in under 4 minutes. Amazing. Bought it for its transportability for our Motorhome, but so far only tested at home.Gel not so easy to obtain & small charcoal needed but for occasional for 2-4 people it's ideal. Lots of fun as you can sit it on your patio table & 'cook your own'. Steel body stays coolish to touch, so no danger to burns.Washed up clean as new without difficulty.

Really great, ready for cooking approx 3/4 minutes. I was disappointed when trying to clean it, you have to really scrub. I had to use steel wool soap pads.
