MustekDV4000 Digital Camcorder

I have just returned from a month in South America with no pictures to show for it. I recieved an xmas present of the DV4000 and my first disapointment was that i could not download mp3's because the camera did not have a mp3 file like it was supposed to, as well as this the instruction manual was very basic. To cut a long story short i had around 200 photos of the most spectacular scenery in the world as well as some of the most exotic animals when there was a memory card malfunction. Once i went to review my photos the camera said no data, but this contradicted what it said on the camera mode which said there was space for 17 more photos (capacity 235). I brought the memory card to every computer and camera specialist in Buenas Aires and Rio de Janerio but all of them said there was nothing they could do that the card contained no data. This was the card that was supplied with the camera. You can imagine how i felt at this stage but i would not be writing this negative review if the Mustek support center had of replied to any of my four emails over the last 2 weeks, im not going to tell you not to buy this camera but i would not like anyone else to experience the disappointment i have.

Great camera, never ever come across another camera with 4.0 MP for this much money. It has all the best you want, a nice digital camcorder,batt charger,mp3,voice recorder, and snap taker. BUt the only minor problem i had was with the reception in low light it doesnt have an inbuilt light so you might have to carry one around but other than that cant beat this camera. i would recommend it 100%

i, as mentioned below, did hav e some difficulty with the mp3s, however i figured out that if the file is not there then just create a new one (called 'Mp3'), and paste the mp3s into it. this works perfectly on mine.have you tried running the 'Console' software, that should get you the pictures, if you have then im sorry that you lost your pictures. i know i would be very mad if that happened to me...This camera is great, though it will only film at the highest resoloution at 5ish frames per seccond, so it is quite shakey/shuddery. The middle quality setting however has a geat framerate, and is not shuddery at all...overall a great camera, at a great price... thankyou Amazon...

The good things about this camcorder are: its size; its looks -- yes, it does look great, no cheap plastics, in my opinion. It does NOT feel cheap right out of the box, I would rather say the reverse; the nice zoom function; amazingly excelent recorded sound quality; nice MP3 playback function; rechargable Li-ion battery; nice tripod included...But the bad things are: not enough clarity and sharpness in video images -- it looks like the camera doesn't focus correctly; colors are a little distorted -- anything that has red in its color shows a vibrant red in the video; no flash/light availabe; the sensor is not very sensitive in low light -- normal interior light is not enough for this camera. Indoor evening shots become distressingly dark. You can use the night-shot function, but at the cost of a slight decrease in video quality.Yes, its price is quite low... and I believe it's the best among its type. But I guess it still not enough. Consumer electronics is advancing and one has to demand better quality, even if the price is low, considering the functions.Considering the nowadays standards, this camera may be a good buy, but it might dissapoint you -- you may reach the point where you feel that not even a price as low as this is reason enough for spending your money (the well known why-did-I-buy-this,-anyway? feeling).To summarize, if you're looking for a toy, here it is. But if you're looking for an actual camcorder, either wait a little longer for a better one to show up, or pay more.I've had mine for 2 days and I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it.

Obviously a Digital video camera that you can land for under a £100 is not going to compete with big names going for five times that much. However, as the video equivelent of a disposable camera, it is great. Perfectly suited for commemorating parties and gigs, it is small enough to tuck in a pocket and not so valuable that you have to worry about it too much. Sure, everything tends to look a bit 'Blair Witch' crossed with CCTV, and the internal mic picks up button presses but it is enormous fun and there is no comparison for price and convenience.Do yourself a favour and upgrade the SD memory card, they aren't expensive and for £30 or so more you could have 80 minutes of filming as opposed to 5-10 on the included one.I have heard some reviewers complain about poor focussing or colour shift. Mine seems to have no problems in either regard which does seem to imply there may be some variance between individual cameras.Overall- Excellent, Not to be confused with the kind of DV camera that will set you back £500, but a good fun way of recording pictures and sound in a highly portable, cheap and easy to use package.
