Bonus! Register your paperback book with the author (details inside the book - paperback only) to get complimentary Premium Membership to the Lightroom Queen website. This gives you access to all the eBook formats of this book at no extra cost and email support from Victoria herself. Adobe Lightroom CC/6 - The Missing FAQ is primarily designed as a 600+ page conversational FAQ-style reference book , giving you the detailed information you need to make informed choices, whether you've been using Lightroom for a few months or a few years. No more pressing buttons without understanding the repercussions! Unlike most other Lightroom books, this isn't just the theory of how Lightroom's supposed to work, but also the workarounds and solutions for the times when it doesn't behave the way you'd expect. For less experienced users, the Fast Track weaves its way through the book, with short tutorials that guide you through a simple workflow, allowing you to gain confidence before diving into the more advanced questions. To get a taste of Victoria's writing style, download the free Quick Start eBook from the Lightroom Queen website. For many years, the Adobe Lightroom - The Missing FAQ books have been among the most popular Lightroom books available. The LR CC/6 version is a major rewrite that's taken 2 years to complete, and it's the best yet. The information is now easier for less experienced users to understand, and easier to find using the comprehensive new index . If you've read previous versions, don't worry, all of the advanced information is still there and has been expanded too. The paperback's even more readable having been produced in color print for the first time. Review: Does what it says on the tin - As expected. Review: Don't be fooled by the title! - I truly believe that this is the first book you should buy if you intend to use Lightroom. I rarely write a review, but felt I had to make an exception in this case. Over several years I have bought many books on how best to use Lightroom; that fact alone should tell you that I've never been wholly satisfied with what I've read! To my shame I've always ignored this book since I mistakenly assumed it would be more question and answer than "try it this way" or "this is how I do it". I was wrong. Not only does Victoria tell you her approach, she also explains why she does it this way and what the alternatives are. Buy the paperback on desertcart (or from her website) and you also get the pdf version updated with any changes since the book went to print and "membership" of a club to keep you updated with this ever-evolving package. I'm now retired, but was in business for very many years. I wish the after sales service I had received when placing contracts then (sometimes for huge amounts of money) had been as good as Victoria's has been for such a small investment. Had I bought this book in the beginning I'd have saved myself lots of time and money. I probably will still do some things differently, but as a foundation it's brilliant!

Brilliant; Thorough: Easy-to-read.
I haven't had a Lightroom book since Lightroom 3 came out, but with Lightroom CC, plus tablets, smartphones and all the changes that have happened in the last couple of years, I was needing help. And whilst it is easy to get help via the internet these days, the sort of complicated things I wanted assistance with were best helped with a hard copy - a real book! What a book! I was surprised at the physical size: 596 pages. Not the thing you would ever read from front to back (especially when you have been using Lightroom for a long time), but when I have read through all my problem areas, I will go back through and check over the stuff I THINK I know, because Victoria's style is SO EASY to read and absorb. Yet her answers are so comprehensive, and thorough - she leaves no stone unturned. And whilst it may not matter to others - I was also pleased to learn that Victoria is based here in the UK. So much stuff on the internet is from the USA, it was like the icing on the cake to find that we have someone over here who can compete with all the American gurus. So the book (and I invested in the electronic versions too) is a huge "Recommend" from me. The writing style and the thoroughness of the information just suit me down to the ground.

Weighty but worth it.
I'm not a fan of the layout, and the text is pretty densely printed. However, this book really does address all questions you might have about lightroom and easier to identify what you are looking for than trawling through articles of variable quality on the internet.

A most invaluable and comprehensive work, that no serious Lightroomer should be without.
I already have Ms Brampton's "Missing FAQ" Lightroom 4 -- quite invaluable -- so when I took the plunge and upgraded to Lightroom 6 - buying her "Missing FAQ" - Lightroom 6, was an obvious move. No one should go within arms length of Lightroom, without "The Missing FAQ" at their elbow - or, better yet, the .pdf file thereof (you get that with the book) on their computer. It will save you MUCH headscratching, cups of coffee - or something stronger. The probability is, you type in the keyword - and hey presto, there before you, in words we can all comprehen - and more importantly, make WORK, on our own small efforts at photography - is the ANSWER. I'm very glad I did buy the (large and in charge) book - because Adobe have (surprise, surprise) "improved" the import dialogue ... Fear not - it's all in Ms Brampton's book ! Ms Brampton, AKA "The Lightroom Queen", runs a web site, called "The Lightroom Queen, from where you can download the .pdf once you've bought the book. Forums, for every level of expertise from starter to wannabee David Bailey. To give you a taster, however, she also produces such useful "freebies" as a "Getting Started Guide". Vist "The Lightroom Queen" at: [...] Take my word for it - this book is very every last penny.

LOVE this book
LOVE this book. I bought it to replace the Scott Kelby "How do I do that in Lightroom" book. I found Kelby's book too narrow for me as it only answered some of my questions and did not allow me to develop my own approach. I am not a photographer but a jeweller taking photos for my website so although I do not want to know Lightroom by the back-of-my-hand I do want to explore it and find what it has to offer me, which may be things I had not thought about before. I find Victoria Bampton writes really well, I am no photography geek and yet am able to understand what she says without having to try too hard. I find the book suits my approach of dipping in to the areas I am interested in and do not feel I need to read it cover to cover to understand enough for my uses. As a novice I found the chapter on how to edit photos really useful as I had been struggling with workflow and how and what I needed to correct. A lot of the book will not be useful to me, how to make slideshows, books do special effects etc. But I feel it is worth the price just for the portions I want as I am able to understand it!!!

More Than Just a Book.
You are not just buying a book, you are purchasing a support service. When my copy arrived I saw that I could sign up as a member and get help from the author without any further charge, 'yeah right' I thought I'm sure that will happen! I registered my copy and set about working my way through the 580 pages, the writer doesn't think I'm a total idiot and doesn't think I'm a fully trained Lightroom expert. When I did get an issue I couldn't work out I emailed her on the dedicated address and lo and behold within 5 minutes she replied with the answer - highly impressed!! She must go down the shops at some point so I cannot give any assurances she will always reply that quickly but this kind of help with such a complex and involved piece of software is priceless and without equal. The book is written clearly and is well illustrated, most importantly you are supplied with newsletter updates which keep you up to date with the many changes, improvements and fixes Adobe come up with. If you are a Lightroom CC user then in my opinion it doesn't matter how proficient you are (or think you are) this book is invaluable and worth every penny. Hopefully one day she'll do one for Photoshop.CC

The Real Deal
I was looking to buy Scott Kelby's book ( I've bought his books in the past ) and came across Lightroomforums.net and subsequently Victoria Bampton aka The Lightroom Queen which led me to her book, Fancying a change from Scott Kelby's writing style and reading the reviews here as well as the excellent various Q and A's in Lightroom Forums I opted for ' The Missing FAQ '. This book is so instructive and written in a logical easy to follow and understand style. I admit I did have a couple of initial questions concerning basic organisation and emailed Victoria direct. Her rationale and answers on Lightroom management quickly put me at ease, giving me the right LR mindset. Where else can one receive such prompt and constructive response ? Though my Lightroom journey is really only just starting I can nevertheless recommend this book wholeheartedly.

I have found answers here to questions I could find nowhere else in other books on the same subject or via Google searches.

The best...

Brilliant!
I hesitated for a few days before buying this book.because it is somewhat expensive, and I did not want the typical FAQ style where I can never find the question I want to ask! I sampled this and other Kindle books, and I looked at print books in stores, and this seemed the best bet. I'm sorry I hesitated; this book is far more than the "best bet" and is SO much more than an FAQ. Frankly, it's brilliant. It's a beautifully written discussion of all aspects of Lightroom with a "Fast Track" index and links throughout the text to the next Fast Track topic ... IF you don't want to read all the detail on the current topic. That's a great way to get started, and I'd rate the book as the best I have seen on the Fast Track text alone. But it is the detailed descriptions of every aspect, every control where this book really shines. The discussions cover every panel, every control, and the different ways to access all the functions ... AND how the controls interact, and frequently how and why they work, and that has certainly helped me to understand what I am doing. Thank you, Victoria -- with this book at hand, Lightroom is going to be a lot of fun.
