Blumat Self Watering stakes are the best!. I bought in the past another manufacturer (white stakes not original Blumat) and several of them didn't work watering. Trust only this BLUMAT original made in Austria. Your plants will be happy. You may follow strictly instructions to prepare stakes/tubes and watering container supplier before to install whole the watering system. I suggest to test by several days before to leave if the whole system is watering properly. I did it by 2 weeks before traveling. Take in consideration the water level in your container supplier with respect to your plant pot top. I put my pots close to the window with watering container for each one. I preferred to test one plant pot vs just 1 one water container to be 100 % sure about the test result watering system by plant. This granted a perfect self watering during my 18 days travel. When I came back my plants and me very happy!.

Having just returned from a 3-week holiday to find my plants looking healthy and happy, I'm extremely pleased with this product (if anything, they look healthier than when I left). I spent a considerable amount of time researching self-watering systems, but this was the only one that had consistently good reviews, and with good reason. It was very easy to set up. You just need to make sure that you use large enough containers that hold plenty of water; I monitored the system for a week before I left and was surprised at how much gets used up. The only criticism I have is that I wish the pegs came in small, medium and large sizes; two of my plants are really tiny so it was a bit difficult to fit the pegs into the pots, whereas I had to use 2 pegs in each of my larger plants.

Bei Pflanzen, die wenig Wasser brauchen, läuft der Übertopf fast voll, so dass die Pflanze komplett in tiefem Wasser steht und natürlich die Wurzel zu faulen beginnt. Die Verarbeitung des Produkts ist zwar gut; aber was will man damit, wenn es nicht tut was es soll, nämlich die Pflanzen in der richtigen Menge, sprich nicht zuviel und nicht zu wenig, mit Wasser zu versorgen, damit man sich auch nach dem Urlaub an seinen Pflanzen erfreuen kann. Ich kann nun die Hälfe meine Pflanzen in den Kompost werfen:(

I purchased this to make it easier for my plants to be cared for when I'm traveling. I highly recommend this product for these reasons: 1. Simple & effective - It's a simple system but very effective. You simply fill a cone with water, place the cap back on, and insert into the soil of the plant. I agree with some reviewers that it's helpful if the soil is a little moist before getting the cone to go in more easily. 2. No overwatering - The plant drinks as much water as it needs. It also means that instead of watering the plant with a watering can, the soil doesn't dry out to the point of water just "running through" the soil instead of being absorbed. 3. Convenient & Easy - Instead of having to take each plant to the sink to be watered, the plant can stay put, and all that is needed is to refill the water vessel you have next to the pot. 4. Use less water - When I'm watering my plants with a watering can, I use much more water to really get the plant soaked. With this method, I used about 6 ounces of water which the plant drinks over a few days. Overall, a great purchase.

I bought these watering stakes for two 10-12” potted flowers (petunia and begonia) sitting on our covered porch for the 17 days we would be away. I used 2 watering stakes per pot; each potted plant had its own water container holding approx. 36 oz. of water. When we got home the plants were as healthy as when I left them and there was probably 4-8 oz of water left in each container. I suggest following the instructions provided but I also suggest reading the reviews for additional tips which I did. I placed the water containers level to the planter/pot. I used filtered water from my refrigerator and covered the top with Saran Wrap. Then I poked tiny holes to drop in the tubes. This prevents the water from evaporating and bugs from getting into the water. I placed the watering stake midway between the side of the pot and the stem of the plant, one on each side of the plant to equalize the watering. I was pleasantly surprised how well these worked. I highly recommend them.

Easy to set up and works great. Was gone for over two weeks and my plants remained healthy and watered.
