W. E. Hill & Sons Peg Paste (SKU: 1788) - Original Formula for Violin, Viola & Cello Pegs | Industry-Standard Lubricant & Anti-Slip Compound for Smooth, Stable Tuning of Pegs

I own a wonderful handmade fiddle with great tone, but rarely used it because the strings kept slipping and it was difficult to keep in tune. As a last resort, I decided to try Hill's peg compound. I removed all the strings, applied a light rub of the compound to each peg and turned them back and fore quite a few times before replacing the strings. The result was amazing. The pegs turn easily, but don't slip, which means my fiddle now holds its tuning very well. Magic stuff.

My Flamenco guitar was awful to tune, or keep in tune, when it arrived. It was quite old, so I figured that peg maintenance was needed. I applied a little to each peg, worked it in , and re-strung, and there was a huge improvement. Still not perfect, so I did it again. It holds tune now, with no catastrophic detuning, and I do not have to apply so much pressure onto the pegs. I may apply more to see where it goes, but the improvement is massive; from unusable to staying in tune. I assume that your Lute, Double Bass or Violin would benefit just as much. The pegs run smooth now. And when I pickup my guitar, it is in tune from the previous day. That never happened before.

This is just normal peg paste. It's nothing special, it does the job and it was cheap and delivered with great speed. If you need peg paste for a normal student violin I recommend it.

Had slipping pegs. This has kept them very usable until I get to replace the pegs. Still stable after a month, great product.

It does the job! Just don't apply too mich or you'll end up with a slippy peg instead of a sticky one! Can always remove some if that hapoens. Good product, will probably last me forever!

My pegs would just not stay in however much I tried. The product looks very cheap but it does the job.

My pegs were really sticking and it was taking forever to tune my violin. Now they are smooth to turn and yet don't slip, Don't know of another product that does this.

I used this product on an 8 course Renaissance lute. The rosewood tuning pegs were constantly sticking and releasing making it difficult to tune accurately. After applying Hill's compound the pegs move freely and easily but they also stay put, and my lute stays in tune! YAY! Of course, the compound will work on any hardwood tuning pegs on any instrument.

My custom-made fiddle wasn't staying in tune, due to temperature changes I think. The Peg Dope was suggested by a friend, and I used it and no more problem, for now at least! My pegs were slipping, but I understand that it also works to lubricate pegs that won't turn easily. Good stuff. I ordered online and the order was here within a couple of days. I have Prime membership, and live 20 miles from the nearest town, so everything (FedEx or UPS) worked all along the way.
