After some research I bought this to cut and decorate for Eddie's chest plate to the specification of Somewhere In Time Iron Maiden cover artwork by Derek Riggs. It worked fantastically and was only one some of many parts that made the costume work.

Simple, easy to use, a bit pricy though.
These are great for halloween props as the plate fits inside of small spaces well and are powered via cell batteries in the connected power pack.Only sticking point in the price. At the time of writing one sheet with battery pack is £18.99. That seems a lot for just one panel of this size. Does it work? Yes, very well and everything is controlled via one button. The cable isn't very long though, so you may want to use a cable extender for bigger props.A good product that does the job well.

Very even lighting
The lighting is even, I haven't tried cutting it up yet since I haven't needed to, but it works well. There is a slight buzzing from the power bank though which is very annoying in a silent room.

OK as a sample
This EL panel is pink when turned off and cool white when powered on - ignore all the stuff about different colours in the description, that's just copied from some marketing leaflet. I inserted two AA batteries into the plastic case, pressed the button and it turned on. Second press gives a strobe effect. Third press makes it flash. Fourth press turns it off. It all works OK.I'm not 100% sure what this is for. As a wearable, a more flexible approach to connecting power would be required. As a hobbyist part, a spec sheet for the voltages, controls and connections would be needed so one knows how to wire it up. It's perfectly OK as a sales sample, but I can't work out who else it is for. At £19 it needs a bit more care.

Very even, bright light.
A decent little panel that has strong, even light output.In the pack you get the display and a standard EL controller. The controller takes 2xAA batteries and has a single button for on, slow flash, fast flash and off. It's got a standard connector and is interchangeable with other EL controllers.Light is cool blue and pretty bright, ideal for a number of applications, especially where lightweight and flexible conditions are required, such as cosplay clothing.
