Very Straightforward to Fit
Some folk have commented that this head is not that easy to fit. OK, it takes a bit of thinking about but I found it fairly straightforward. My strimmer is an Eckman with the gearbox head shown in the first photo. Retaining the splined collar, photo 2 and using two of the supplied washers the Oregon back plate can be fitted and tightened as in photo 3. Photo 4 shows in the top row the items discarded and in the bottom row the items used / retained. The fith photo shows the finished fitting with the strimmer line in. My old orange strimmer head was a nightmare to load. The Oregon head is simplicity itself. And, it works very well with easy bump feed.Edit 16/08/20: After less than a year the bump feed started to give trouble - only one line was feeding. Investigation revealed that the inner white spool had cracked and was jamming the line. Two stars off!

EXCELLENT DESIGN
This is a great, well-designed product. The head is much easier to load than the original (Honda) unit. I get less line breaks using the supplied line (Oregon Duoline Plus 518777 Low Noise Trimmer Line) and I went on to buy a full reel. Not sure how durable it will be in my rough, stony, garden. Plastic body appears a little soft.

Simple and robust, but may be missing an important part!
This is an auto 'bump-feed' strimmer head. Unlike heads where you have to remove the cover to wind the strimmer flex onto a spool, the Oregon essentially comes with a self-feed head, or what they call,'Twist and Load'. To load the head you line two arrows up. This allows you to push the strimmer cable all the way through one brass feed hole and out of the other, without having to open the unit. Having made sure you have equal cable lengths, you then turn the bump head to wind the strimmer cable back in until the required length is reached. It really is that simple and it's worth repeating that at no time do you need to open up the head, deal with an over firm central spring and struggle to get the head's cover back on.If you want to see inside, disassembling the head is easy and the inside is robust and impressively simple in its design, so a solid piece of kit. It comes with several different metal washers to fit different makes of strimmer and is advertised on Amazon as fitting 'all brush cutters/trimmers'. Unfortunately this is not true. The ad' copy also states that it is 'simple to fit using the existing blade bolt on your machine'. This is only true if your existing strimmer comes with a 'blade bolt'. Mine doesn't ! Or to be more accurate, the bolt is a nut and the nut is embedded in plastic and integral to the base of the old strimmer head! So a word of caution; a. don't throw your old head away, you will need the retaining nut. and b. if the nut is integral to the old head, you will need a hacksaw or large grinder to split your old unit open and retrieve it!This took me a while to work out and when I finally realised that my strimmer was in the 5% bracket of machines that Oregon's - and I quote, 'universal' fitting' - DOES NOT fit, a good hour of puzzling and wondering what the hell was wrong had passed. More time was wasted looking for a suitable fixing nut, and having no joy, a further half hour was taken up destroying the old head with an electric grinder, to retrieve its nut. If you're not up for this amount of DIY, then this unit is definitely not for you. There are other strimmer heads for sale on Amazon that come with a variety of fixing bolts, so there's absolutely no need to go through the pain levels I experienced, indeed, I was at the point of sending it back to Amazon, but sheer perversity; a rainy day and the belief that the unit was nicely engineered, kept me going.Having now used the strimmer head, (plus cannibalised nut), I can report that it works just fine. But what a palaver. Here's hoping your strimmer falls into the 95% category that will work with this Oregon unit straight out of the box!

Works a charm on a FOX multi tool
I was looking for a replacement head for a cheaper branded FOX multi tool after stumbling upon one cheaply for repair. I was struggling to find a head that was a direct replacement so bought this on a whim, and it did the trick. Fully installed in around 15 minutes, multiple washers included so finding the right one is straightforward. It works a charm & I now have a fully working set up at a bargain price. A great buy & trusted brand. Thanks!

Started to fail during first use!!
Once it came I fit it having to use the nut from my old head and I threaded it with the small coil of chord provided and did the winding as instructed. When I wanted to try the 2.4mm Hex chord I bought with it I opened the head as instructed and removed left over chord but I noticed a notch missing from the the white plastic reel. When I went to thread the new chord the threading system no longer really worked due to shears in the reel. But eventually got 2 metres of chord threaded and performed okay as I did the strimming but when I had to rethread the reel with more chord after what was loaded had been consumed - the end of the old chord was now stuck in-between the cracks on in the reel and had to be teased out. I doubt it will last much longer and only have it 3 days. Very very disappointed with the quality of the product - wouldn't be ordering it again. Maybe what I received was a Monday morning version and am just unlucky to have been sold a not fit for purpose one but either way am out of pocket and stuck with it.

Great product !!!
Great product, bought this to replace the true craft head on my trimmer. To change to this head I used the left hand thread nut that originally came with the blade of the strimmer .Very easy to fit with the different sized washers supplied .No need to open the trimmer head to load with line ,simply line holes up and feed line in at each side .Trine the line to suite and away you go .Bump on the ground to feed line out when required. Very robust head .I use mine for swimming around mature conifers for around 30 mins at a time with no issues .Great extra for any strimmer

Easy system for installing line.
Easy to replace most straight shaft existing heads but you need to make sure when fitting the new head that it is central when tightening the retaining bolt. The washers supplied to accommodate the various diameter retaining bolts are a loose fit in the head allowing it to be off centre when tightening. This results in undue vibration when using the machine. The system for installing the line is very simple and avoids the need to take the head apart when replacing line.

Gute Idee
