The suction is great... it's easy to use... but regarding using it to grind softer cheeses (like cheddar jack) the cylinder either is too small or not pointed down enough to make the cheese flow out... I always have to pull it out... and it's really easy to go too far and then you have a semi-solid block of cheese inside the cylinder.That's really my only problem with this... but because of it, I'm looking to buy something else instead.

This gadget is easy to use, but like other gadgets it requires a learning process. Because cheese has so much butter fat in it, it can stick inside the grater and you need to have a fork or knife ready to pull the cheese out when it begins to accumulate and stick together. It's really not a hassle, but you will need to reach into the round grater and pull the cheese out when it starts to clump up. This thing is a great gadget, I think, because I would rather have cheese that doesn't have the corn starch added to pre-grated cheese that keeps it from sticking together. The cheese melts better, you don't have to do any bicep building, and it's very quick. I buy the large bricks of cheese and grate it with this. I love this thing. I haven't had the problem with the magnet not holding. So far mine has worked fine.

I bought this because I was tired of scraping my knuckles on both my box grater and plane grater. It was always a lot of work to grate cheese. This grater is so awesome! I have used it many times! Twice in the last week. It sticks to the counter well, and very easy to assemble and disassemble. I haven't tried hand washing. I just put the pieces in the dishwasher and they are clean. The one SLIGHT downside is, if you have a softer cheese, you need to coax it out a little as it tends to stick in the barrel. I didn't know that and when I first used it, I was grating mozzerella. The whole thing got jammed up. After that slight learning curve, I've had zero issues. Including grating more mozzerella! I recommend this to everybody I know!

So call me old fashioned but I have always used a box grater. I figured that those rotary things were a pain to clean and not worth that effort. Well was I wrong. This rotary grater could not be “greater”! First the design. It is made in pieces with a base, a handle, the body and the grater drums. So first the body - it has a suction cup that is engaged by turning a knob. Must have been invented by Einstein because it works great absolutely no slippage. Next the handle, it is engineered so the base can be anywhere on the counter and you do not hit your hands while turning. Next, no screws or bolts, everything has a small toggle snap to go simply together ( and take apart). I thought that the grater drum felt dull and would probably not work- wrong again. I went through a 1/2# of Parmigiana Reggiano cheese in less than 1 minute ! No more sore arm and wrist. Clean up was a snap( literally ). Just in snap the base and clean the body and drum. I only wish that I had a reason to buy two of these. Couldn’t be more pleased.

We grated 2 Costco blocks of cheese in less than 15 mins. From start to finish. It did plug up a little if we went to fast but that’s minor. As long as the counter and the bottom suction is clean and not greasy it stuck amazing. We have grated cheese, cabbage, potatoes, broccoli, pickles. Pretty much everything.Oh and it’s easy to assemble, take apart and clean.

Perfect small gadget for the kitchen. Does what it supposed to. Some cheese can get lodged in the housing. Cleanup is easy.

Easy to use and no more scraped knuckles!
