Great for a 50cc taotao
I got this for my taotao thunder 50 scooter to replace the restrictive heavy stock muffler. it had a nice deep tone to it and wasn't ear piercing loud but loud enough to let someone know your coming. when I upgraded the engine to a 90cc the muffler was too restrictive at high rpms and was too loud. I gave 4 stars because its not a motorcycle muffler like it says. I plan on buying 2 more for a 49cc scooter project. If you have a welder just weld the mounting flange to your pipe or if your pipe has a flange just drill matching holes to bolt it on.

Can be a good muffler if you modify it
I bought this to put on a fat-tire mini-bike. As it comes, it did little to quiet the exhaust. It did, however, make it sound a little more like a motorcycle engine and not as much like a lawnmower type of engine. The problem with the muffler is that it's a straight-through design with fiberglass packing around a perforated center tube, and the exhaust air is going to use the easiest means available to escape and that means going right out the end. But if you have a little understanding of how mufflers work, you can quiet it down considerably, and it's totally worth it to have such a small muffler on such a small bike. So here's how you do it.Drill out the rivets on the end caps. Then you can remove the perforated core tube. It is welded to one of the caps and it's just a light press fit into the other cap. You can take out the fiberglass packing or you can leave it, but I'm sure you'll get better flow if you remove it. Find a washer that will fit inside the perforated tube and weld the center hole of the washer closed, or if you have a flat solid round piece of metal that fits, that will do also. Using an angle grinder, cut halfway through the center of the perforated tube cross-ways, put your washer/flat metal disc in, and then tack weld it in place. What this does is create a multi-chamber muffler that is FAR quieter than a straight through design of the same size since it forces the air into the chamber outside the perforated center tube then back into the center tube on the other side to exit. It is then essentially a 3-chamber muffler. I did this on mine, and the noise level is now quite tolerable. It's not a whole lot louder than my Honda CRF250L dual sport. The bad about the muffler is the mounting flange. It is VERY thin, maybe about the thickness of electrical conduit, and really easy to burn through, even if you have your welder set on a very low heat setting. That could definitely be improved. But otherwise it has some good potential if you're willing to do a little modification, especially considering the price. I will be buying another of these for my generator once I figure out how to fit it within the generator's existing tube frame.

Good deal, needed modification for my engine, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you...
It's a decent flow through design, but I did have to cut the end cap off the inlet side to cut back the inlet tube because for some crazy reason it was tapered down to almost 1\2" inside there before the exhaust reaches the baffle. I also unpacked some glass while I was in there because it seemed a little tight by my standards anyways. I did however give this silencer the benefit of the doubt since I am using it on a 2 stroke motorized bike engine that was heavily modified so it's hard to say if it might have worked just fine on a dirt bike as intended. The tapering thing I don't think is cool for any 2 stroke as the necessary back pressure has already been supplied by the expansion chamber. But again, I didn't use it on a dirt bike, so 4 stars. With a little modification it still was way better than if I had tried to fabricate my own and it looks half decent and the price was very reasonable, especially compared to others of the same type. In the end, even if I'd known I'd have to tweak it, I still would have bought it since now it works perfect and still quiets it down enough to keep the neighbors happy.

Perfect Soulmate to F2 Thrust
This muffler is the perfect soulmate match for the ever loud n proud BBR Tuning F2 Thrust Exhaust. The flange that came with the muffler for me was 3 hole which was nice because it covers the excess 3 holes in the muffler (total 6 holes). The flange however ended up not working out with the F2 Thrust, although I found that flipping the muffler so the curved outlet was going into the F2 Thrust's end was a perfect fit due to the F2 being cut at a 45 degree angle at the outlet. All I have to do is use high temperature heater hose and a couple of clamps like another review did and it is properly mated, but I think I am going to weld it and permanently adhere the muffler to the F2 Thruster and have it as a quiet performance exhaust. I have also noticed zero difference in performance having the muffler mounted vs not mounted. If you live in a suburban hell neighborhood where noise matters, this pipe works wonders. I am actually convinced that this muffler quiets the F2 Thrust down below what the stock muffler output in decibels. This muffler is a straight through design with no additional fins/air relays in the muffler, so this muffler can be used bi-directional. I recommend this for anyone with motorized bicycles and similar applications if you are looking to quiet down your toy. The color is nice too. Matches my Black and Chrome motorized beach cruiser nicely.
