My experience with the NEWQ Fingerprint Biometric External Hard Drive has been underwhelming, primarily due to its unreliable fingerprint detection and software-related access issues. Despite its promising features, the device fell short in delivering a seamless and convenient storage solution.One of the major drawbacks I encountered was the sluggish and inconsistent fingerprint detection. Compared to other fingerprint-enabled devices I use regularly, this external hard drive's fingerprint recognition was slower and less accurate. I often found myself having to rescan my finger multiple times or reposition it to ensure successful recognition. This inconsistency in fingerprint authentication proved to be frustrating and time-consuming.Furthermore, the software provided by the manufacturer for accessing the hard drive presented its own set of challenges. It exhibited issues that hindered easy access to the stored data. The software suffered from slow response times, frequent crashes, and compatibility problems with different operating systems. These limitations made accessing the hard drive a cumbersome process, compromising the promised convenience of the product.Although the external hard drive does offer a commendable 1TB SSD storage capacity and fast transfer speeds, these positive aspects are overshadowed by the drawbacks of unreliable fingerprint detection and problematic software.Considering the importance of reliable access methods for secure storage, the NEWQ Fingerprint Biometric External Hard Drive falls short of expectations. It is crucial for a product of this nature to provide consistent and efficient authentication mechanisms, along with user-friendly software.In conclusion, while the device's storage capacity and transfer speeds are noteworthy, the subpar fingerprint detection and challenging software prevent me from wholeheartedly recommending it. I hope the manufacturer takes customer feedback into account and addresses these issues in future iterations to provide a more reliable and user-friendly experience.

Glitchy software for fingerprint technology; when the fingerprint software glitches (which it does often) it starts to corrupt your files and images to an unrestorable state (your images become half discolored errors of their original form). Stick to Samsung Touch 7 series (SSD), its more reliable.

The media could not be loaded.  I compared a dozens of hard drives that are 1-2 TB sorting by price and rates, and eventually got this one. It was genuinely a good deal. 1TB space with a fingerprint lock! My husband likes it a lot, because his laptop was loaded and running out of space. This hard drive is easy to plug in with laptop, runs smoothly with Windows 10, and offers a fast data-transfer speed. Now we don't need to spend money to upgrade the laptop. The fingerprint lock looks super cool and adds another layer of security to the data. Good stuff

I really like this hard drive. It looks cool and very technological. The quality of the packaging is also high. It's small enough for me to carry it around. Fingerprint unlocking can also greatly protect my privacy.

After repeated attempts to install the software, I google other online resources for an assist. None worked. Finally I re-checked the Mfgr's Support page and was able to locate a download for the installation software. After several system re-starts I was able to get the security software installed. I transferred several .jpeg family photos and all that were backed up were awfully pixelated and portions of the photos missing. After 2 hrs of trial and error without any success, it's back to Amazon for a refund!
