It does give a really good edge, however for larger tools, the clearance makes it very difficult to get a consistent angle of grind. All the same glad I purchased it. Now some months on and finding the grinding wheel as it wears is out of true (radius wise) makes it hard to be consistent and the water holder is such that even with a new wheel you have to use the top setting for it, when worn to about 25% the wheel will not be able to touch any water.

I wish I'd bought this sharpener years ago. Tools so sharp that I can shave the hairs off the back of my hand! - Quickly too. I did buy a knife jig separately that's really useful. (Shop around for best price.) Be sure to offer a square between the stone side and tool rest before tightening down - my first plane blade sharpen wasn't square. There's a lot of up play in horizontal setting. So long as you know that, it's a great bit of kit.

Needing to keep the knives sharp in my busy chippy I was fed up waiting and paying to have them sharpened. This is brilliant value and works well. One star off as my longer knives catch on the other wheel when sharpening. Also be careful and support the knife or make sure the attachment is securely attached.otherwise you will get a knife throwing contest. Looked on you tube for methods and the results are fantastic. Time consuming but worth it.

The sharpener and disks work well and is great value for money although the supplied jigs are a little hard to use and the instructions for the jigs are limited.I would recommend the sharpener but check out other 3rd party jigs to accompany this

Probably one of the best for the money although could have a better tool holding system. Only that the rail is a bit loose that holds the tool holder. Still very usable.

I did have a slight problem with the tool holder but thankfully the seller has an amazing customer service and was resolved quickly. Thanks for your help Tom and Allan. Once using the tool i got great results. Very sharp chisels that only takes a few minutes as compared to hand sharpening that takes a lot of time.

This machine is good enough, Just! Please note the grinding wheel supplied with this product will need to be replaced immediately due to the fact it need dressing to make it round and its to soft ! after just one chisel the wheel is now 170mm and the water bath is now full of blue sand ... one other thing the reverse threaded spindle means that no matter how tight I did the nut as soon as the tool touches the wheel the wheel becomes loose this is probably down to the wheel being soft. so save up and by the the tormek as I will be doing and should have done .lesson learned .
