Hi, a little like asking how long a piece of string is but, after initial setup and it's dried the house out, is it heavy on the electricity?

Hi Elizabeth! My experience was that the dehumidifier used approximately 1 unit (1 kWh) of electricity for every half litre of moisture it removed. I carried out a number of such measurements over a four day period and was a little surprised, at first, to find that the relative humidity didn't fall all that significantly. On reflection, I realised that, my being in my flat almost continuously over the four day period, was contributing to the humidity i.e. breathing. When I left it on for 12 hours in my absence, the humidity fell by around 5 percentage points, from c.75% to 70% RH. A further 12 hours in the empty flat reduced it to c.65%.The lesson to be learned here seems to be that if you are living full time in your house/flat the humidity level will not reduce all that significantly. Should you have a damp flat like mine (probably due to my living there for only 1 or 2 days per week and with central heating switched off for most of the time), then I would suggest that you "blitz" each room separately with closed doors until the RH falls to the desired level. So, to answer your question; the dehumidifier will consume the same amount of electricity per hour, irrespective of how humid your home is, as long as it is switched on. Although the power of the dehumidifier is given as 350W, my one used around 6 kWhs in 12 hours. There is an option to have either 1 or 2 fan settings so the higher fan rate may have contributed more to the extra usage than the power rating would suggest.I hope that this has been of some use to you.

Only one year guarantee.  Mine broke after 18 months. They want £80 to fix it.

What is the capacity in litres of the water tank? and does this switch itself off once the tank is full?

Sorry, I can't remember but I have had mine for about 2 years without a problem. This is the 2nd one I have had, same make. Like all electric gadgets, I don't expect them to last long time. I use mine regularly and am very pleased with it.
