Set of 6 Stainless Steel Ice Cubes with Tongs Gift Set By Scotch Rocks

First of all, if you are trying to decide if you want to get these for yourself or as a gift to use for Whiskey or Scotch .... Look no further. These work great! Some people complain that they do not get your drink cold enough. However, I do not agree. To me, these are perfect for Whiskey. They are not supposed to make something really cold, only drop the temp slightly to the perfect temp for drinking. If you follow the directions provided, you will be happy with the results. Do not try to put them in a warm soft drink and expect it to get really cold. That's not what it is made for.I bought a set for myself and I plan to buy a couple more for Christmas gifts.

The item is a great buy. They definitely keep your drink cold without watering it down. We keep them in the freezer and then just pop them in a drink. I also like the tongs that come with them, so you don't get your finger prints on the stainless steel. The container that comes with it is great for storage in the freezer too, so that they aren't everywhere in the freezer.

I have actually bought two sets, one for myself and another as a gift. I chose these over soapstone sipping stones as after testing both, I found that the stainless steel ones stay colder longer and get colder faster. Although I will admit that the soapstone versions are really classy ;looking.They are not going to make your drink ice cold, but will definitely chill it down after a few minutes. Since the set comes with 8 pieces, i recommend using 4 at a time if you are having a glass or two by yourself. Two pieces doesn't really do much.

I bought and took them to the Caribbean with me. I drink mainly single malt scotch and it must be neat . Occasionally I like my scotch a tad bit chilled. After freezing them for the recommended time, I tried 3 with The Glenlivett 18yrs Single Malt Scotch. Honestly I wasn't really impressed. Yes the temperature went down but my scotch was not chilled to my suit. For my second drink I used 4 and then that was the deal breaker. Scotch was nicely chilled, condensation was even forming on the outside of my glass. Maybe 3 cubes would work perfectly in a cooler country.These work so much better than the soapstone rocks I bought at the same time. To be fair, don't expect teeth shattering super cold scotch - if you're into fine scotch then you'd know better These stainless steel scotch rocks chill the scotch perfectly for a pleasurable drink when you need your scotch.They also arrived on time and nicely packaged as expected.

These are a novelty item at best. I placed them in the freezer for 2 days. then placed them in a cold drink, an hour later it was room temperature. I placed five in a drink at room temp thinking it would cool the drink a little and it went down about 2 degrees. They are cool for the sake of cool i guess, they look cool in a scotch glass but they really don't cool like i was hoping they would. They work decent for small cocktails that you refresh often. But i see some reviews here saying they keep the drinks cold for hours and thats not the case!

Disappointed in this purchase. I've only used them once, after chilling them in the freezer for at least 40 hours. Dropped 3 each into a couple of Manhattans I had made for the wife and myself. The drinks were already chilled after being stirred and strained from a glass of ice. I expected these to maintain the chill longer. My wife was unable to finish her drink about 15 minutes after I poured them, and she handed it to me to finish. I was shocked to find the drink was really no cooler than room temperature. I don't really think these helped at all. I doubt I will use them again.

Well, it has a plastic semi transparent box. I usually put my cubes in to fridge with the box. The box has a place for the holder metal but i can't put it there because i don't it to be completely cold too. So I don't wanna put it directly to fridge too because, it may be hard to reach them. I wish they made a non metal better looking holder to pick up the cubes from fridge. Because holding metal cubes with metal holder does not seem convenient. I always have the feeling of, oh i'm gonna drop them now.Another bad thing about this product that it is not completely filled metal cube. I don't know but if it was, i guess it would chill a little bit longer. I don't know what's inside the steel cube, maybe something with a better heat capacity, but if they would put something really heavy, it would sure hold more heat from the whisky and would eventually raise the performance.So we have two bad points. But overall nice gadget for every whiskey drinker. Worth trying, but i don't know that if it will satisfy the expectations well enough. I would easily give 4 stars, but i see this as a critic for the development of the item in sake of whisky loves. So get to job and make it better and cheaper :D

Well, they may not seem "ice cold", but you know they are working because the glass gets noticeably colder. What I think one has to get used to is the fact that the drink is being chilled; not watered down. That was really strange for me and I'm still trying to get used to that fact. So, you can expect consistency in your beverage from start to finish. I would suggest finding some really sturdy drinking glasses though because the Scotch Rocks are pretty solid. And yes, I just tried them with some JW Black and the results were the same; consistent from start to finish. The real plus is that you can use them repeatedly. I've only tried them 3 at a time, so I may have to add a fourth to my drink on the rocks to see if gets any colder. Other than that, these are quite the novelty item to add a bit of touch to your bar space!
