Good value for price
I bought this for making sugar-free frozen yogurt and it comes perfect, it's the best frozen yogurt I've ever had. Once the machine is well frozen for the first time, it stays frozen for quite a long time, enough to use it, wash it and return to the freezer. However, it took me 3-4 attempts to reach that level, due to the poor instructions that come along. Let the bowl freeze well, close the machine, set the timer first and then make sure to pour the mixture slowly from the top hole so that the machine can still move or it will spill the mixture all over the place since the direction of churning changes when it gets stuck. Unless you follow the exact recipe from the recipe book, there's nothing telling you how much time you need if you want to make different quantity. So, it's a bit trial and error till you get that, but as a rule of thumb let it churn the ice cream longer or as long as you can if not set. The machine won't be able to churn it longer than necessary and so you'll know when it's ready.Bottom line, I can enjoy my frozen yogurt anytime plus it's super easy to clean, so I'm happy with it. I'll have to deduct one star for the instructions given, the time and effort it took to understand how it works, but the result definitely worth it.

Love it!
I don't love the recipe I tried (not from the user guide) - but I love the machine! SO easy. I'm a cookaphobe - I hate anything to do with being in a kitchen and purchased this because I was fed up with my grandfathers complaints that a supermarket chain had stopped selling the coconut ice cream he loves. But this is truly fab. I left it sat on the worktop for a week or so out of trepidation... I really hate making food that doesn't involve pre-sliced bread :D This was so easy and so effective I honestly look back on the palpitation-inducing anxiety and laugh. After using, I left it on the worktop for hours and the remains of the ice cream I hadn't scraped out were still frozen. This may be because I wrapped the outside in a tea towel before using to provide extra insulation for the bowl after another user claimed it didn't make frozen ice cream. All I can say is, it did for me. Perfect. Not soft - definitely not a mr whippy (though not freezer-rock-hard either). No idea how long the machine will last.Something to note: you can remove the digital unit from the plastic lid before washing it. The clips are inside the lid. I didn't notice this till after I'd wiped it down!Enjoy :D

Recipe book is useless!!
The recipe book leaves out IMPORTANT BITS. eg..you have to simmer the egg in the milk until it thickens to a custard consistency. Also the first time u use it leave the bowl in for 24 hours otherwise its not cold enough. Look at other recipes and adapt them...eg...I used Jamie Olivers Chocolate recipe...that works...the mixture has got to be cold when you put it in the bowl..boil the milk first then add the eggs and simmer stirring constantly till it thickens then leave it to go cold and then finally add the whipping cream which has been beaten to peaks...Take the bowl out of the freezer only when u are ready to pour in the mixture. That worked for me. First time it didnt freeze so I looked up recipes on line.

Ice cream (almost) on demand
Really great having our own ice cream maker at home. Well made and compact equipment. Not too loud either. However, as others have mentioned, you do have to plan in advance as you'll need to ensure the inner bowl is placed in the freezer well ahead. However, your imagination is the limit when it comes to the ice cream flavours you can make, and the 'style' of frozen delights (from sherbert to Italian ice, to heavy ice cream). So far pistachio has been the favourite. Has been a treat, but just remember to factor in time for the bowl to freeze (and space in the freezer for the bowl).

It makes ice cream
Good: It makes a small amount of good quality ice cream, at a reasonably cheap price point.Bad: Lacks the quality of a more expensive machine, bowel needs freezing in advance and paddle breaks off if the ice cream is a little thicker than it likes.

Freeze the bowl before adding the mix.
Thought about buying one of these for a long time and received it as a birthday present after dropping some very heavy hints ! Very straightforward instructions and a few recipes included. There are loads of other recipes available on T'internet, so no need for a specific recipe book. Just remember to freeze the bowl for up to 24 hours before using (leave it in the freezer if you have the space) and most importantly start the paddles before pouring the mixture in. Don't be tempted to overload the machine - 500ml of mix will give < 1 litre of ice cream. VERY efficient and if you want a firmer mix, place the bowl in the freezer for half an hour after the programme ends. Reccommended.

Good starter icecream maker
Good way to try out and see if having an icecream maker is for you. Inside top if the mixer can be fiddly to clean

Makes nice ice cream
I've tried a couple of recipes now. It makes lovely frozen yoghurt. Not too sure how sturdy the paddle is, as it does struggle a little if the ice happens to freeze on the surface of the bowl.
