Must have this to spray water-based dyes, shellac and clear finishes.
This tip takes the spayer as delivered to a level required for water-base wood finishes or 1 lb shellac with dyes, etc. (Be SURE you have the no wax in the 2# shellac you have cut with alcohol to 1#.) You can dye the shellac and with this tip lay down even coats to tone finishes. Requires some skill. Do not clean the tip with steel wool! Use thinner (alcohol is thinner for shellac) and soak. If you still use lacquer use lacquer thinner. However this sprayer can do a fine job with water-base European-style finishes; cleaning with water, soap and hot water work fine. I do NOT recommend any attempt to spray latex base - water base finishes, especially with this fine tip. Those require a bigger tip and careful attention to augment the paint with flotrol or such. For fine woodworking, if you want painted, consider milk paint. I top all with water based acrylic, gloss, then smooth it all out with mirlon pads (not sanding.) Avoid steel wool. I've used it for doors, furniture, gun stocks and more.

Great tip.
I am using this needle for spraying bathtubs and it works amazing. I do have to thin down the product (tiledoc) but that is to be expected.if I think it down with xylene 2.5 oz per small kit it works amazing.

Probably good with Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss
I'm currently spraying several coats of Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss on my Chris Craft. Through a long series of misadventures, bad planning, and inexperience, I have already put down about 30 coats of varnish by rolling and tipping (and sanding it all off). That's not an exaggeration. So far I've gotten three coats down with this needle set. I still have some orange peel. But, there are several adjustments to make to the mix and to the spray gun. In the end, it doesn't matter because I'm going to rub out the finish. BUT, I do have to say that spraying it is SO MUCH better than brushing. At least, as far as just putting down some coats. With this needle set and not really caring about any of the other factors, you can really put down some base coats easily. If you are good at rolling and tipping, then even better...once you throw down some coats. To get a perfect finish I think will take a lot more time, coats, and experience with all the various factors.

This should be supplied as the standard needle
I have yet to find a use for the stock 2 mm needle that came with the spray gun. If you want to go through a quart of liquid in about a minute, and create maximum orange peel, keep using that needle, otherwise this is the item you need. I used about a 15% dilution ( Behr premium paint), and output was very nice. For stains & finishes, I may even consider the 1 mm. This is nicely machined, and found that it worked well even without the gasket. Overall, the best investment I made for this spray gun so far. A winner!

Good product
Very good product. It created a bit of bubbles but it is not a bad tool at all. I have also invested into a finer needle 1.5 to do cabinets. The one that came with it is a 2.0 and a little thick for that. Latex is a bit hard to spray as it dries a bit too fast coming out of the nozzle so I diluted the paint quite a bit and also added floetrol which helped leveling the paint.

Outstanding!
As always Earlex products are amazing! All of their products exceed my expectations. I paint furniture professionally. This finer needle is fantastic as well. Everyday use and my Earlex sprayer hasn't let me down yet. Thank you!

No need for this size
Canโt really tell the difference between this and the one that came with the sprayer. Not really needed.

Product received as described. Shipping and handling took two long. The order hadn't been prepared two weeks after ordering. Other than that, it is ok.
