This works great for external system capture, not just capture
I picked this unit up so that I could view some of my systems without a monitor. I simply plug the HDMI from the system (raspberry pi works great) into the correct port and plug it into my PC and instant video access without requiring a monitor. This allows me to view the boot and keyboard and/or mouse with a system without needing an additional monitor. It also allows me to record the screen as needed. If you want to do a headless setup for system administering and occasionally need to plug in a monitor this works great.

Works great on Mac, no drivers needed
I can capture at both 1080p and 720p, latency is low. I love the fact that it has indicator for both usb connection and hdmi connection so you know everything is connected and working. No drivers needed on Mac. I am currently on Catalina and it shows up in the system as a webcam so I can use with OBS Studio, Jitsi, Zoom, etc.I bought 3, I am using with a couple Canon Vixia's and for capturing laptop video output. They show up as separate devices when all plugged into the same computer so they can all be used simultaneously.Seems well made, very portable. Comes with both a USB 3 type A cable and a USB-C cable.

Works consistently
Plug in, install software for some configurability, select as camera in an app, call it a day.

Great card in itself, but it saved my Elgato from the trash.
I originally got this card because I thought that the Elgato HD60 S wasn't going to work with my PC.What this card did in how it was just the simplest plug-and-play job ever was show me what my real problem was.I was using the USB ports on my case, and testing the AverMedia out through them with some sample recordings. I noticed a horrible amount of video/audio desynchronization and a really slow response on the capture rate through the USB 2.0 port, and a slight audio lag with near-perfect response on the USB 3.0 port. Then I plugged this little wonder that could where Elgato couldn't into one of the 3.0 ports on my motherboard. Everything was perfect. That lead me to my other test the next day.Things to know about this card:--If you read the manual, there is a light type that it will blink when it says it's updating its firmware. I highly recommend plugging this card in on Windows (with internet) for its first-time setup. Despite being a UVC card and thus usable on Linux, that's not something I was willing to test.--Yes, this card has no HDMI output passthrough, but if you'd rather not look at a TV screen while recording, do you need it? I mean, the video comes up in the capture software of your choice once you have your card set up, so really, the only way to know you got it right is when everything is working. And that's the way things should be.--This device also comes with its own capture software on their website, and if you like to have an indication of how much approximate recording time you have to play with, why not try it?

They tell you one thing before you buy it and another after
I asked if it would work with Canon SL2 and they answer it wouldn't matter as long I have the right cables.I bought it and it did not work. The screen is either black with a "no video" message or it works for less than a minute sand then turn black again. The tech support does not help at all.I am returning it very frustrated.

Reliable device
I use this to convert my personal iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) into an extended-desktop second display from a Dell Latitude work laptop with an HDMI output port. It works perfect for my use. The lag is so small it is unnoticeable almost all the time. I use either the Mirror app or the Quick Camera app from the App Store to show the 4K feed in full screen mode at 30 fps. The unit itself so far has not overheated or glitched after several hours of continuous use, which is a recurring problem I had with cheaper HDMI capture devices in the past.

Super Easy to Use. Works seamlessly with multiple applications. Perfect for use with DSLR cameras.
I us this USB external capture card to hook up a DSLR Camera, in my case a Nikon D3300, to use as a webcam, streaming cam for Twitch, and to use it to to capture videos on my computer through StreamLabs OBS. So instead of buying a webcam that I would have been disappointed in, I bought the AVerMedia ExtremeCAP UVC. This device is plug and play like no other plug and play device before. Seriously it is easy! It captures video without delay, at 1080p 60fps, and works seamlessly with everything I've tried. Zoom, WebEx, SplitX, and StreamLabs OBS are the ones I've used so far to date. I highly recommend you buy this product over others.

Amazing gizmo
This is an incredible piece of technology. I was encouraged by the listing saying that it was truly plug-and-play, with no need for driver software, but was also skeptical. HDMI is notoriously touchy and I have had other, similar devices that were either a hassle to get them working properly, or they didn't work in a reliable way. When I unboxed the thing, I saw that the tiny, tiny user's manual had no instructions other than showing you how to plug in the cables, something that was totally obvious anyway. Based on past experience with other devices, I was sure I would soon be logging on to their site to read the "real" manual, or hunting on Google for answers to the problem I was sure were coming. But guess what - I plugged it in and boom, worked like a charm. And the picture it delivers from the HDMI source is flawless. Great product!

A veces funciona, a veces no
He estado probado durante algunas horas.
