A great beginners book for Dead fans.
Best collection of Dead songs ever, and nicely presented with easy to follow chord notations. I am a novice and can play along to most of these songs with a minimum of practice. Take note however, these are Hunter/Garcia songs only and do not include songs by Weir/Barlow. Also many of the songs played by the JGB are absent as they are authored by Dylan or others. But for Hunter/Garcia songs, this is a winner!

Great basic foundation
Great for the basic chord structures of ALL of Garcia>Hunters compositions. Transcribed from the studio albums for the most part...occassional tablature for signature song riffs. Well done, includes accurate & authentic complex, nuanced chord structures and not just major/minor substitutes. MUST HAVE as reference for musicians that love the Dead and Jerry! Only drawback is does not have Bobby's songs--none of them.

Birthday gift
My husband likes it. His opinion is all that matters to me. He has not uses it a lot so I can not rate it any higher than a three star buy. If he thought it was great, he would use it more. So, I thinks it's OK.

Kindle version not so good
THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE KINDLE VERSION: I would not recommend getting the Kindle version of this songbook. While otherwise a 5 star book of great Grateful Dead songs, with chords and some tabs, the Kindle version is not very user friendly. It is somewhat OK on the iPad but the music is almost too small to read on a Macbook from any reasonable distance when playing a guitar and there is no way of increasing the font size for the music --- only the song titles and words. In contrast, the Kindle version of some other music books (e.g. "50 Classical Guitar Pieces for Guitar") allows an effective zoom of the music using the words per line control. In the Garcia/Hunter book, all that does is increase the size of the margins without altering the music itself, which is unchanged --- not very useful. Amazon should re-publish this book so it is properly supported by all devices -- particularly since the price has gone up $3.00 in less than a year.
