Almost amazing
Generally speaking when studios release back catalogue titles on blu ray they port over most if not all of the bonus features from previous DVD editions. Occasionally though this doesn’t happen which can be extremely frustrating (for example, the absence of Empire of Dreams from the Star Wars blu ray box set), meaning that those of us who like their bonus material are forced to hang on to ageing DVDs.I have owned the 2-disc DVD editions of Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 for many years, both of which contain a healthy array of bonus material. When these two great movies were first released on blu ray in 2007, Sony scandalously elected not to include any extras at all. Both movies were re-issued in 2012 and this time were given healthy bonus packages, though some material from the DVDs was still missing. The first edition of Spider-Man 3 released on blu ray in 2007 was a 2-disc version including all the bonus material released on the 2-disc DVD, but the 2012 re-issue is a single disc that only has a handful of extras. The word ‘shambles’ springs to mind. Now, coinciding with the blu ray release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony have produced this limited edition box set containing the first five movies which goes some way to putting right prior mistakes as far as bonus features are concerned. It isn’t completely comprehensive, but it’s pretty close.First off, a warning: this really is ‘limited edition’ because there is a number stamped on the bottom of the slipcase. I don’t know how many copies Sony are making, but if you’re thinking about getting one I wouldn’t hang around. The slipcase is very nice – here in the UK we are often short changed in the slipcover department compared to US customers, but I have no complaints here: the case is sturdy, embossed and very shiny. Inside the case are two digibook, one containing the ‘Origins’ films (1-3), the other the ‘Evolution’ films (4-5). These digibooks were released separately in the US in the summer and you can find in-depth reviews of both on Thedigitalbits.com, so I’m not going to go into exhaustive detail (the ‘Evolution’ digibook was simply called ‘Amazing Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection’ in the US).In addition to the discs both digibooks include several pages of photos and notes about the movies. The discs themselves slot into pages in the book which may lead some customers to worry about scratches, but I guess if you don’t repeatedly take the discs in and out this won’t be a problem. The movies themselves are the same transfers as prior releases, but as these ranged from extremely good through to outstanding that is not remotely a problem (I've read that the transfers for the first and third movies are the 'mastered in 4K' versions which weren't released in the UK). Each movie disc contains some special features but both books also have standalone bonus discs. As far as brand new material is concerned, the most noteworthy item is a new ‘Editor’s Cut’ of Spider-Man 3. I haven’t watched this yet, but from reviews I’ve seen online the consensus seems to be that this represents a very slight improvement over the theatrical release. Also new is an 11-minute featurette entitled The Stan Lee Legacy: From Comic to Homecoming (which appears in both digibooks). Note that the UK set does not include the trailer from Homecoming which appears on every disc in the US set.A huge amount of previously released material is ported over on to this new set and it’s probably easier to say what’s missing rather than what’s included. The reviews on Thedigitalbits.com provide a thorough overview but in summary most of the missing material consists of trailers, TV spots, galleries, trivia tracks and video game promos, i.e. nothing worth losing any sleep over. For me, the only thing I wish Sony had included are the comic book supplements from the 2-disc Spider-Man DVD; these contained a year-by-year recap of Spidey’s adventures, and brief profiles of his adversaries and ladyfriends, all accompanied by artwork taken from the comics. Thedigitalbits.com says that two featurettes about 3D filming are missing from The Amazing Spider-Man, but I believe these only appeared on the 3D release (which makes sense), and as this set only includes 2D movies it’s debatable whether you can say these extras are actually ‘missing’. It should also be noted that this set includes extras that were not even included on the standard 2-disc DVDs, for example the Spider-Man 3 'webisodes' were previously only available on an Amazon exclusive bonus disc. One minor gripe is that two of the previously released Spider-Man 3 featurettes are in SD whereas I believe they were in HD in the 2007 2-disc set.So having read all that you may be wondering why I’ve only given this set 4 stars? Well let’s be honest, only Spider-Man 2 is a bona fide classic superhero movie. The other four movies are all very good indeed, but all have various flaws, especially the overlong and occasionally very juvenile Spider-Man 3. My other reason for knocking off a star relates to the packaging. Firstly, the digibooks are extremely snug in the slipcase and are quite tricky to remove and even more tricky to slide back in – I’m paranoid I’m going to damage either the case or the books. Just a fraction more leeway would have been good. There also seem to be some quality control issues – I’ve had two copies and each have minor imperfections, e.g. creases, marks, dents, oozing glue, nicks in the pages, etc. None of these issues amount to very much, but given that this is supposed to be a limited edition collectors’ set, and given the price I paid, it’s a bit annoying. If you’re really only interested in the movies and aren’t too bothered about having a comprehensive collection of bonus material then clearly this set won’t be for you – just stick with the separate blu rays already available. However if you’re a completist, and don’t mind a few little imperfections, then I would definitely recommend you pick up a copy of this will you can.As for me, I can now happily sell my existing blu ray copies of Spider-Men 1-5, and as well as my 2-disc DVD edition of Spider-Man 2. However for now I think I’ll keep my Spider-Man DVD because I do quite like the comic archives.

The best Spider-Man (boxset) yet!
This is a review of the Bluray set. Not the films themselves.First off the outer box is very sturdy and will no doubt stand the test of time. It has gorgeous artwork with both matt & gloss finish and embossing. The books themselves are very nice. Matching artwork styles for each set of films respectively. The back covers are free from all the specifications so plenty of artwork to see.The write up’s from each Director is great with in-depth looks at there take on the tijlar character. Disc artwork is rare to come by these days so it’s nice to see this here to.The bonus discs have good features and it nice to see that the editor’s cut for Spider-Man 3 and 2.1 are part of this set. It’s the complete Sony Spider-Man collection that I would highly recommend!

The "Amazing" legacy - all in one.
Not really too keen on the Andrew Garfield "Spiderman" flicks but the overall package alone is worth it just for the sake of getting the Toby Trilogy in a stunning, well presented package. The actual packaging itself looks quite premium alongside the storage of the discs themselves (presented nicely in a book-like casing for both Toby's and Andrew's movies seperately).Highly recommended for anyone that is a fan of the movies and in general - would like to spruce up that display with some additional eye-candy.

Spider-man legacy boxset
I bought this used for £30 but when it came in the post yesterday I was happy to find that it was sealed in plastic no dents no fingerprints on discs I thought that it would be like that but for 30 it is awesome I got it for the sam rami trilogy spider-man 2.1 and the spider-man 3 director cut some of the effects don't hold up on blu ray or it might be my tv with the HDR but it was fun to go through these movie's again. After playing spider-man ps4. Spiderman 2 is my favourite if you like spiderman pick this up

Limited best version blu-ray box.
Bought this just to replace my old copies into one box. What an amazing box set. New cuts of the films. New features. Plus all presented in a great box. Highly recommend. Only 2000 copies printed.

The 4k version is hard to get now....
I'm not too keen on the new spiderman films tbh or Tom Holland as spider man, toby Maguire will always be spider man for me and Garfield is close. Far from home and homecoming pfffft. This is the box set you need! All the content included are presented very well. Highly recommend.

Amazing boxset!!!
Very happy, unfortunately had to replace the first one I received but it was dealt with very quickly and I got my replacement the next day. Amazing boxset and the box and all the books inside are incredible and have a lot of detail.

This is a good value set and presented well
This is a good value set and presented well. There are 5 UHD blu-ray films here and the price works out less than buying them individually. The box is very nicely made and the overall package is very nicely done. There is a number on the bottom of the box which in my case (no pun intended) is 4xx/1000. Presumably then there are only 1000 of these being sold (maybe/probably). Regardless of the collectability it's a fine product and recommended. The UHD blu-rays look very good indeed, far better than standard blu-ray of course.
