You can relive history with these.
These are great ata's for the nostalgic among us as they are the only adapters made to my knowledge that accept pulse dialling. Please note that the plastic dials of the 1970s do not work very well but the old metal dials of the 1950s phones dial out with no errors. Making calls from an old Bakelite phone through an asterisk pbx running on a Rasberry pi is real fun! If I find a workaround for the 1970's plastic dials I will repost. It's something to do with the pulse timing needs to be very accurate. Update.. found the workaround! The 1970’s dials need the pulse contacts adjusted to give a shorter break time on each pulse, it not to do with the dial speed. Bend the spring contact so that in the “circuit broken” position (turn dial back slowly to see this) the gap is very small. Sorted!

works with pulse dial/rotary phone
I bought this to use an old rotary bt phone with my sipgate account. It worked well and the phone rings after i remembered that i need a ring capacitor/master socket on the end of the phone cable. I had to adjust to pulse contact governor to make pusle a bit shorter so i could dial out.Only issue with the box itself I found is that when using dhcp for the grandstream wan side, it did not reconnect to sipgate after a router reset. I eventually set a static IP to resolve this.

Perfect for connecting a rotary phone to a SIP PBX
Bought the HT-502 to connect an old rotary phone to a FreePBX Asterisk based PBX system and it worked flawlessly. I received theHT-502 V2.0A hardware and it had no problem recognizing the rotary pulses using the out of the box firmware of 1.0.14.1 with bootloader 1.0.0.18 and CPE 1.0.1.48. I don't plan to change these as it's working with the rotary phone. Configuration was a little challenging due to the LAN and WAN ports on this unit. WAN goes to the network used for the PBX. Had to connect a PC to the LAN port to allow management from the WAN port and from there I never used the LAN port again. Only changes I made were for the SIP server registration info and everything else worked at defaults for the rotary phone to work. I also tried using the HT-502 to connect a rotary phone to a Mitel 3300 PBX as a SIP device and that worked ok too.As an FYI, I have a GrandStream HT-702 as well and this definitely does not work with rotary phones. No WAN port on the HT702 so more straightforward to setup for fax or a modern phone. I tried a rotary on it and while it would ring, the HT-702 could not interpret the pulses from the rotary phone.
