Is it good for upper lip

If you mean darker skin on your upper lip, then no not really. You'd be better off with a cream that contains "hydroquinone". If you can afford it, ipl laser treatment from a proffessional works too.

Should this be used day and night or just during the day?

I have been using this product for two years, it is Fantastic! I use it daily, its SPF helps me from getting a tan (my skin burns quickly.) Since using this, my face looks brighter and even toned in colour.
