Good educational supplement, durable stand and metal rings
This is a well-made flip book with some visual reinforcement that should work excellently for parents, homeschoolers and teachers as a supplment to other reading and spelling aids. The double-sided structure is efficient, it's compact and can slip easily into a bookbag or larger purse for quick on-the-go spelling practice during travel. It looks a bit scant on the words covered, but that's due to the efficient, double-sided design. There are roughly 40 words to keep a child occupied before getting bored, so it's better as a supplement than primary learning tool. The only downside to this is that there isn't a full range of consonent phoneme blends at both the beginning and end of words. Some, like 'sh' are only at the beginning. I'm not sure how the words were chosen, but I would have liked more for variety as children grasp the words included-- some of whom will quickly work by memory, especially with a matching picture, rather than reading the words out.

Great for anytime practice
My daughter is in Kindergarten and needs some work on her reading. I got this word builder so we can sneak in some quick practice here and there - if she asks for a treat or to watch a show, I can ask her to make some words with me first. It's sturdy and the printing is clear, although you need to look close sometimes (We spent several minutes puzzling over why we didn't have the letters to spell "bird", then we noticed there was a tiny little arrow on the picture pointing to the bird's "wing"). But overall my daughter enjoys figuring the words out using this.

Good assessment tool
It is a quick way to assess kiddos ability to read CVC words and state if they are real or nonsense. Individually or in pairs students can create word lists using the builders-they can write sentences using the words they made and they can trade word lists with a partner to do the same. Overall, the ease of use and the added picture at the end allows for modification to meet different learner needs.

Okay product.
I was excited for this CVCC product and am a bit disappointed with it. I got this for my 1st grade classroom. The words and pictures on this should all be decodable but they are not. There are words such as "swan" that do not follow the rules and would be a heart word. There are also words that the students can build such as "back" that have no picture.

Good Tool for Small Groups in Classroom
Overall this is a great CCVC & CVCC flip chart. It is best used for one-on-one instruction or small groups. The flip cards are not the sturdiest for long-term class use, so I suggest teacher-led small groups or at-home use. I do appreciate the blends being separated and color-coded to allow children to hone in on the separate sounds before putting them together. I also like the visual picture representation to allow children to self-correct. A pretty good learning tool. Add some manipulatives, plastic letters, or pop-its and you will have an amazing phonemic learning center. (If you do add to this product to create a center, I would probably invest in a few more of these CCVC/CVCC builders.)
