Covert Affairs - Season 1 [DVD]

It is a really good crime series with lots of action.

Take a girl, still suffering from the mysterious disappearance of the love of her life, and drop her into the CIA at the deep end despite having too many morals to be a ruthless percentage player like those surrounding her. Do this before she's even completed her training. Give her a sister and nieces to ground her and complicate her life. Add a dash of office politics and intrigue. Add great performances (particularly by Piper Perabo, the lead), snappy dialogue and plots with twists and you have a recipe for a seriously fun series - Enjoy.

I've written a review of season 2. My feelings are much the same - good stuff, some good acting, some very unlikely stories and a mix of comedy and action. Well worth taking a chance on, though.

Covert affairs Season 1 - really reminds me of Alias, A strong female lead, excellent acting throughout, a good story arc and really excellent and well known actors (if you watch a lot of American series).But - and this is a big but - its special effects are RUBBISH.People being shot, green screen work, trying to convince us the agents are in foreign countries, the CIA building, the fights etc theses all look as if they blew the budget on episode 1.Trying to convince us that the Agents are in another country? its like watching a comedy where they use stock footage and the same scenery from different angles! The green screen work for when the agents are driving and talking? in 1 episode she is driving and hardly looks at the road! the view out of the car windows is fuzzy and blurry.The first episode is amazing - the FX etc are excellent, but from then on......It does have a great story arc and its characters are really strong and the acting is great (which is why I give it 3 stars) but I can only hope season 2 gets a better budget.

I purchased this Season 1, based purely on the reviews at amazon. This is was a real gem of a tv show. As soon as I finished watching season 1 I ordered Season 2. Good Character based show that said the stories in both season 1 and 2 are good even the weaker episodes are entertaining. An Inventive show worth spending your money on. Piper Perabo is a very good lead character, that said the entire cast make the show. I cannot wait to buy season 3

Unfortunately purchased the first season only to realise within 30 seconds of watching it that there's no subtitles and therefore useless to me. Unable to cancel it as I watched 30seconds of it!

I'm totally addicted to Covert Affairs! I loved it from the very beginning and can't wait for the next series to start: I hope you'll enjoy it too.This first series is all about Annie Walker finding her feet as a new CIA agent. Annie is trying to strike a balance between her new glamourous but dangerous job and still having a life outside the Agency but doesn't find this easy.Piper Perabo does a great job as Annie and makes her very believable as a character.

My wife started waching this while i was on nights you see the thing is it must be good as my wife dos'nt like these type of things so to grab her attension it must be good and i have to agree im hopked to no but i had to get series 1 & 2 as i started waching it half way through series 2 anyway we love it

Article pas vraiment commandé mais par contre reçu, je l'avais mis de côté, mais pas commandé ferme pourtant, je l'ai réceptionné un beau matin ! je voulais l'acheter avec deux autres séries dans le cadre de votre offre series3, mais vous avez anticipé. Pour cette fois, ça passe, mais ne recommencez pas, je me fâcherai ! ....

Ich war auf der Suche nach einer neuen guten Serie, hab ein bisschen in Foren und im Internet recherchiert und stieß auf Covert Affairs. Da die deutsche Version zurzeit noch für 25€ angeboten wird, entschied ich mich für die billigere UK-Version. Bereut hab ich es nicht, die Serie ist gelungen und die Sprache (allerdings mit englischen Untertiteln) gut verständlich!Im Mittelpunkt der Serie steht die 28-jährige Annie Walker (Piper Perabo- Coyote Ugly), die auf Sri Lanka von ihrer großen Liebe (gespielt von Eion Bailey aus Once upon a time) verlassen wurde. Da sie fließend sechs verschiedene Sprachen spricht wird sie von der CIA angeworben und kurz vor Abschluss ihrer Ausbildung nach Langley geordert. Hier arbeitet sie für Joan (Keri Matchett) und Arthur Campell (Peter Gallagher aus OC California). Zur Seite stehen ihr der blinde technische Analyst August Auggi Anderson (Christopher Gorham- Ugly Betty) und CIA-Agent Jai Wilcox (Sendhil Ramamurthy- Heroes).Es handelt sich wie ich finde um eine gute Serie, Man darf sie allerdings nicht mit anderen Spionageserien wie La Femme Nikita oder Alias gleichsetzen. Annie fuchtelt nicht dreiviertel der Zeit mit ner Waffe herum und ist auch keine Nahkampfexpertin, in diesem Punkt lässt es die Serie eher ruhig angehen. Sie ist wahrscheinlich auch nicht das hochwertigste und beste, was das amerikanische Fernsehen zu bieten hat und mag ihre Logiklücken haben (meine nächste Serie war Dexter, daher bin ich was Qualität angeht vielleicht grad nen bisschen verwöhnt), aber ich fühlte mich bei allen zwölf Folgen gut unterhalten und das ist meines Erachtens die Aufgabe einer guten Fernsehserie;-)

Die sympathische Annie Walker wird Mitglied des CIA und hat dort manche Hürde zu überspringen, bis sie sich eingelebt hat und respektiert wird. Begleitet wird sie in Staffel 1 von ihrer Schwester, die an ein Leben von annie in der Kunstbranche glaubt und ihrem Ex-Freund, der ab und an in den Fällen auftaucht und natürlich auch ein Spion im Untergrund sein muß. die Serie ist kurzweilig, auch mal lustig, das blinde Computer-Ass hat meine volle Symapthie, Annie ist eine hübsche und intelligente Spionin, das Team drumherum kommt für mich nicht so überzeugend wie bei Castle oder Mentalist, aber durchaus gut gemacht. Synchronisation und Produktion sind gut, Kann man empfehlen für "zwischendurch"
