Good but its instruction leaflet could be better
I have a Devolo system so I can get wired ethernet through any plug socket in the house. My routers 2G WiFi range is fine but its 5G range is more limited. I bought this unit to improve 5G coverage.I set it up as explained in its instruction leaflet. Dead easy. It worked BUT now I had two WiFi zones to choose from. The one created by this unit and the original WiFi from my router. I knew I could 'merge' these so they appear as a single zone but the instruction leaflet did not explain how to do this.I had to go to their website and look through several instructional videos until I found one that included a section which explained how to merge the WiFi zones. Again, it is a dead easy procedure. Only needs a couple of button presses. Why was it not in the leaflet that came with the unit? It would only be an extra few lines of text.Once set-up Devolo units appear to remember their settings so they just pick up where they left off in a few seconds of plugging them back in or turning the power back on. I don't know how long the memory lasts but I have unplugged all mine and left them for 2 weeks and the system restarted fine.Does it work? Yes, it needs to be plugged in somewhere where it can pick-up the 2G/5G signal from your original source, but it doesn't need to be a strong signal. So it can nearly double your WiFi range. Is it fast? Yes, the WiFi is the slowest part of my system but it still runs 50% faster than my incoming 100Mbps internet. Is it reliable? I assume so because I have other Devolo units that are 10 years old and still work fine.

Good link rates
The images shows my set up with 4 Devolo units, a 5th with my computer is on standby. The new 550 unit is the bottom on the picture.I concur that the setup could be easier if the instructions were accurate, but I got there with perseverance. The 550 is now networked with other Devolo devices up to 10 years old. A 500 triple is connected to the router with TV and a Box connected by LAN cables. The computer it connected via a 200 unit. A security camera is connected to a 200 unit by LAN but also provides a WiFi extension upstairs. A further 500 unit provides WiFi in the garage for a Car and a LAN Port for a security camera. Finally the new 550 provides WiFi extension but could also provide a LAN Port. When I had all devices running the sum of the upload speeds was just under 500 Mbps.Possibly a 1,200 Mbps connected to the router would allow greater speeds but that's a guess. The early devices all have Green lights with some that can be configured Off. The 550 has two white LED and I haven't found out how to switch them off.You can monitor the system by the App but better to use the Devolo Web interface mBottom line, the system works well and works best if you plan your network properly. If you want to expand it then it is easy.

JUST AWFUL
The most unreliable powerline system I have ever tried. VERY had to setup and you simply cannot rely upon it working all the time. I regularly have to reset one on the boxes, back to factory setting, and reconfigure. Just appalling quality and really frustrating software. I should have 7 boxes on my system, but only 3 are currently showing. 2 are working, even though the software says they don't exist (at least today - they did show up yesterday). I am going to strip it all out and bin the whole system. I have fought with it too long to get a refund so I have lost my money. Ah well, at least that means that Devolo will no longer be meking my mains AC power dirty - this was intefering with my audio systems too. I will enjoy throwing it in the bin, just a shame I paid for more landfill....

Disappointed
Bought this as an extra adapter after already having 2 of them in the house. The 2 i already have have both worked perfectly and really help with a stable wired connection for my kids consoles. However, this one which id installed behind my tv to connect a cable for Netflix etc just keeps dropping out. Works fine for a while then just loses the signal. Reverted back to wifi for the TV which has worked constantly since. Basically useless now as i'm not using it for anything else.

550 series device appears incompatible with 500 series
Bought this not knowing that 550 adaptor might not be compatible with our Denovo 200 and Denovo 500 power adaptors. Not clear in advert that this could be a problem. Someone had already written in the manual that came with it maybe they had the same problem. Returned mine for refund. Bought 500 series power adaptor which should be fine.

550 worth the money
Finally made the jump to upgrade my wifi, I had already replaced some of my non wifiplugs with 550 version . I had on 500 wifi plug and it performed not great. I got two 550 wifi pugs and the entire system is now 550 and works a lot better. Upgrade the software on the plugs for those who have it done so (use Devolo cockpit) it will enhance your network. Couple of points . The 550 plugs have a double antenna so you get better performance out of wifi. Disturbance on power grid is not good ( microwave in our house causes problems), phone chargers etc ( remove those when you don't need them)

Great addition to my WiFi network.
Great addition to my wifi network at a low cost. Initial set up was slightly difficult but once I'd worked it out it was a doddle. Speed is really good, no more complaints from the kids about their lack of WiFi.
