Product Description Jason Statham (The Mechanic, The Expendables) heads the cast of Blitz as the tough, uncompromising and un-PC detective “Brant”, who is teamed with unlikely partner “Sgt Porter Nash” played by Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum) to investigate a series of police murders. BAFTA and Tony Award-nominee Aidan Gillen (HBO’s The Wire) and fellow BAFTA-nominee David Morrissey (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, State of Play, Nowhere Boy) join the cast as a cop-hating serial killer “Weiss” (Gillen) and hack crime reporter “Dunlop” (Morrissey). The strong supporting cast includes Tony Award winner Mark Rylance (recently seen at the Royal Court in Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem), Zawe Ashton (St Trinian’s II: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold), Richard Riddell (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus), Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) and Nicky Henson (Vera Drake). Written by Nathan Parker (Moon) and produced by Zygi Kamasa, Steve Chasman (The Bank Job), Brad Wyman and Donald Kushner, Blitz is the second feature to be directed by Elliott Lester. .co.uk Review Is there an action movie star with the consistency and work ethic of Jason Statham? Few seem as prolific, and while Blitz in some ways follows the template of some of his earlier work, there’s a few really quite interesting touches squeezed in between the credits here. At heart, Blitz feels like one of those old-fashioned ‘70s cop thrillers that they apparently don’t make any more. Statham is the old fashioned detective who refuses to play by new rules, with his outlook on life hardly in line with politically correct thinking. And he’s up against an extremely unpredictable, volatile foe in the shape of Aiden Gillan’s cop killer. The two are kept apart for much of Blitz, and this is one of the film’s many wise steps. It allows both to build up respective heads of steam, with Gillen in particular proving to be a really quite distinct villain, and an extremely nasty one. Behind the camera, you can’t help but feel that director Elliott Lester has done his homework, too. Stylishly, but not fussily, edited, Blitz is gritty, pacy, and knows not to outstay its welcome. There are elements of the film that you’ll have felt you’ve seen before, and there are few surprises to Statham’s performance in particular. Yet that proves to be one of the movie’s strengths, and it’s hard not to chalk Blitz up as another highly watchable entry on Jason Statham’s CV. A good, solid, action thriller. --Jon Foster

great film.
My opinion may be a tad biased as most of it was filmed in my old neighbourhood where I grew up. But still a good film. Not too over the top like most cinematic Hollywood productions full of political propaganda and green-screen unrealistic scenarios. This had an authentic feel with an extreme real-world feel. Good acting, storyline, and humour but it is not a comedy, and a nice balance between action and character building.

Luckily YOU won't be the one blown away by this...
I like the actors in this from the off.. that is always a good starting point IF they have a proven history in being able to deliver performance wise, character and storylines / script.Gritty no holds barred in your face at times, delightfully unruly heady mix which to the end held me entertained and what an ending.. !! Delivered the final punch like a prize knuckle busting prize fighter.Don't take my word for it.. go see for yourselves.

BLITZ, Excellent Good Cop !
Order #026-3563019-351876222nd October 2012 BLITZ, this film very good, "The Stath Has Never Been Better".Jason Statham flexes his acting muscles in this refreshingly old school cop thriller.Don't go expecting the over the top explosions of The Transporter Trilogy or The Expendables. Bliz is a cop thriller with a few good action scenes thrown in.Based in London the Stath plays a uncompromising cop with a very funny un-pc attitude. Due to a spate of cop killing Statham has to team up with a very unlikly partner played by the excellent Paddy Considine and the polar oposite partners build up a friendship as they hunt down Bliz the killer with a grudge against the police (Aidan Gillen) who is brilliantly psychotic.Aidan Gillen's manic performance is so nasty and hissable as he builds up his hit list against the police and out- smarts the law at every turn you just know when captured Statham will go to town on him....... and he does. The only down side to the film is the un-needed back story of the W.P.C battleing her adictions as it drags this lean mean film out, but I guess being based on the books it is needed for the possibilities of the sequels.Statham is at the top of his game and proves he can act, the film may be similar in the unflashy tone of Statham's 2007 movie The Bank Job, but Blitz is slightly inferior, but none the less is a gripping home grown brutal thriller that demands to be seen. [See if you like......The Sweeney. The Bank Job.Night Hawks. The Veteran].

Fans of Jason Statham Will Enjoy. Others May Not.
Yeah, it is a Jason Statham movie. You know what you are going to get and he delivers. Not his best movie but not total crap either. Thin plot though, with a subplot surrounding one other police officer that didn't seem to go anywhere. A totally unrealistic villain who was about as scary as my mother in law but otherwise worth a viewing.

Better than expected
I seen a trailer for this Movie by chance, I never heard of it until then.So I took a chance and bought it on the strength of what I had seen in the clips. The film itself is actually very good and although 'The Stath' tends to play a lot of stereotypical parts, I liked his character in this one and; also liked Paddy Considine(who I think is underrated anyway)they gelled well. I do however think that Aidan Weiss steals the show in this, there's nothing better in a Murder movie then a psycho killer. The film flows well and the action is not to over the top, script is good and played well by all the cast, the settings especially at night almost remind me of a Michael Mann film.If there is one fault with the film however; it's the Deleted scenes, there's over 20 minutes of them?? Some of them should of been left in there as it gives a better insight and a little more 'life' into some of the characters.Anyway if you're looking for a good movie to have a few beers and not displease 'Guests' I would recommend this as it will please most who take their time to view. The Blu-ray is great, great picture and sound and; the seller was 5 star in every service.
