This really is a plastic bucket with a re-sealable lid, filled with 5kg of magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2) flakes. As such it’s a large, heavy item and you will need sufficient space to store it in the bathroom or other location. You scoop the magnesium flakes into the bathwater and then soak in it. The bio-science is inconclusive, but it’s accepted that magnesium is a vital mineral for health and especially for good immune system function. Modern city lifestyles, stress and processed food can lead quickly to Mg depletion. Soaking in MgCl2 flakes is certainly therapeutic & relaxing and leaves your skin feeling rejuvenated and fresh. Since we started using it a few weeks ago, we both sleep more soundly and wake up refreshed and full of energy. One caution: if you leave the lid off the bucket, the MgCl2 flakes absorb moisture from the atmosphere (especially in a bathroom where the air often is full of moisture) go hard as a rock, sitting in a pool of milky-coloured liquid. This doesn’t affect the Mg chemically but changes its consistency when handling it. Also be aware that if you use this product regularly, then over time you’re going to accumulate a collection of empty, lidded plastic buckets! Verdict: good product and very good value.

They are very good: help to relieve joint pains, to relax, to soothe skin, to help with sore, swollen feet. I suffer from arthritis and these flakes help to reduce the pain in my knees and ankles.

I bought this for my daughter to use in the bath. She has psoriasis and the idea is that the Magnesium Chloride will help to reduce the inflamation of the skin disease which is psoriasis. I believe you need to use it quite often say 4 times a week at least. I think its good value as its a fairly large tub. Some minerals are meant to help reduce skin ailments and improve the surface of the skin. Its not a miracle cure but it does help.

Helps relax muscles when dissolved in a warm bath. Great value although the lid had come off in the box and the contents spilled a bit. Not the fault of the company but Amazon packaging incorrectly despite being labelled fragile. Amazon rectified the situation.
