Good printer
We bought this printer to add to our office. The size is nice and compact and looks nice. It works great. Prints fast and os still going really well. Our printers are used a lot at work and need something durable and quick. This is just that. It’s easy to load paper and change the cartridges

Updated - Great value for money
Update - October 2021Over last few weeks my printer has decided that it only connect to Wi-Fi when it feels like it. Scan to PC option no longer works, and every day I find the screen on the printer shows nothing but greyscale pixalated image of the ink levels. I have to reboot the printer and set up the wifi each day. Yes I bought this printer in January 2020, but it has not been overused or abused, so I expected it to last longer than just under 2 years. This was not a cheap printer and was chosen because it offered A3 printing but I am disappointed that I am now going to have to research and purchase another printer.I expected better of HP than this.************************************************************************************************************************Very pleased with printer. Does everything I need it to. Have had HP printers before which are generally reliable.Only real gripes are - switching from A4 to A3 paper pulling out drawer is a bit of a faff.Cost of replacement ink - ouch and then some!Printer quality is very good - quick to print as well.Does not have a USB port so you have to scan to email - my preference is to scan to data stick.Takes a while to set up email addresses on printer as there is not a normal qwerty keyboard shown on screen.Power cable could do with being longer.Looks good and doesn't take up a huge amount of space in the office.

Fantastic value for the price
I was in the market for an A3 printer and saw this significantly lower in price than it's competitors. I was sceptical but it was HP which is a well known brand so I gave it a go and I am so glad that I did.Easy to set upHigh quality printsInbuilt scanner / photocopierand a document feeder if you want to copy/scan a multipage documentIt's also built in duplex so you can print on both sides of the paper without having to feed them back through manuallyFairly frugal on inks and while HP inks are expensive there are a lot of third party ones on the market which are substantially cheaper.Great printer at this price

Doesn't do glossy paper... or WiFi
Edit (2): Reduced to 1*, see my reply to the manufacturer comment.Edit: Reduced from 3* to 2* on account of the wireless stopped working, necessitating connecting via USB cable (which I had to buy separately!) Not good. The trouble-shooter option is laughable. So you click on the HP Scan icon and it says there is no connection to the printer and do you want to trouble-shoot the problem? Ooh yes please, you say, and click OK, at which point you wait several minutes whilst it downloads the software and configures it. Do you want to go ahead and fix the problem? Certainly you do, and click OK, and the software says... Sorry, can't do that because there is no connection to the printer. You couldn't make it up. What's more, there actually WAS a connection in that the printer would scan to the PC but without taking notice of the settings, and you couldn't initiate a scan from the PC. Hopeless confused (the software, not me, I just stuck that USB in and I'm using that).Orig review:I'll start with the major failing, which is that despite what it says in the Tech Spec for this printer it does not handle glossy paper (at least one other review states this). I tried a couple of dozen times to print on 180gsm glossy photo paper (non-HP), which according to the tech spec sheet is compatible, and only twice did it print. The remaining times the rollers were unable to pick up the paper and the printer stopped with an unhelpful 'Printer Error'. After three hours, one of them on the phone to HP support, and despite updating the firmware to the latest version, the rollers still would not do their job.On matt paper and ordinary thin paper it was fine. Indeed, when I turned the glossy paper over and printed on the matt side that worked no problem, showing that it's the gloss which is the problem and not the paper thickness. Now personally I don't care about this as I don't intend to print glossy prints, but it is a clear fault with the hardware and as such warrants one or two stars deducted from this review. As for the rest... The good -* Printing on 120gsm matt photo paper the result is surprisingly clear and vibrant. Actually more so than the couple of prints on glossy paper that I managed, where the colour was very washed out.* Print speed is good enough.* The printer preferences options are easy to understand and seem to work as expected.* I've only used the scanner once but found it simple to operate - stick the photo under the lid, press Scan and a window appears on your PC showing the location of the scanned file. The scan itself is clear.* The physical printer set-up and ink installation was painless. The rest of the not-so good* The printer is USB enabled but does not come with a USB lead.* If you choose to connect by ethernet during set-up (I just did this to check, I'm currently connect via WiFi) the desktop software loops , asking you the same questions over and over.* When you cancel a print job it doesn't seem to believe you. You have to do it several times and even then the printer might decide that you really want just a tiny bit of the print, just an itty-little bit on one side. No, printer. No.* The set-up worked fine but it was impossible to tell what it was doing. I like to understand what's being done on my PC but there is so much bumph to download, with little description, that this is impossible. In addition the advanced options software is, according to the set-up, only available via Windows Store. In Win 10, Windows Store only works if you allow automatic Windows Updates, which I don't on account of not wanting that nasty Microsoft bloatware wrecking my machine every second week. So no advanced options for me.If this printer worked with the paper it is supposed work with I might be tempted to give if 5* overall, but despite the fact I'm not fussed about glossy prints you really can't have a photo printer that doesn't print photos. And I rated 2* on value for money because we all know that the printer is a loss-maker and the money is raked in on the extortionate ink cartridges. This is common across the board but there is no such thing as value for money if you're printing in colour.I wrote this after only one day. If things change I'll update accordingly.

Really good quality
Very please with this printer, good print quality and reasonably fast. Make sure you read the instructions to get the unit to work on wifi. We have used ours at multiple locations and always works fine

It didn't come with full ink cartridges
The printer does its work however it took me some time to set it properly as when initially printing images in colour the horizontal lines appeared on the printed picture. The huge disappointment was when I managed to print only 20 colour pages and 100 in black , even the info on ink cartridges states that it last for up to 1600 pages printed in colour and 2000 printed in black. I am buying new replacement cartridges now and the price is much higher than in other printers I have used so far. I think the cartridges was not full when I got this printer. :(

Easy to set up
I am a techno dummy but even I found this printer easy to connect and work. Update Aug 16. If you need to print an envelope you have to jump through hoops with tutorials etc,. Or Pick up a pen and do it the old way. Thought you should all know.
