Serrano ham Gran Reserva - Shoulder ham 4,5 Kg. with ham Holder and Knife

A fantastic introduction to the world of serrano ham. Firstly I thought I had left ordering this ham far too late. My birthday was on the following Saturday and I was ordering on the Sunday evening. The ham was coming from Germany although Iberus said that it would be with me in 3-5 days. It arrived perfectly packaged on Wednesday afternoon, less than three days after pressing the order button on a Sunday. Mounting the ham was slightly fiddly but having looked on a website rather than the enclosed booklet I soon got the hang. For first timers it is always a bit weird taking your first slice, and also wondering what to do with the rest of the ham after, especially when you think disaster has struck because you should not refrigerate it and the ham has gone mouldy. Fear not. First of all, I was a bit worried about the low price, but the price is low because this is the front leg (shoulder) and not the more famed hams (bag legs). This ham is divine. Lovely flavour. And you can keep going back to it. All you need to do is keep the fat/rind you have sliced off and replace it over the meat you then slice off. I popped a small bit of cling film on top. Warning - it is awful the first time, but the ham will get mouldy on the outside, including penicillin type mould. But take a sniff and it doesn't smell off - this is completely normal and can just be wiped off with a damp cloth when you come to slice it.I have deliberately dealt with the worrisome side because they were my initial concerns - but now I know different - I have just been able to enjoy my ham. It really is divine. Next time I will trade up to a ham. I would also buy again from Iberus - really excellent and efficient.

Whilst it was extremely tasty, I was disappointed by the level of fat.... more fat than ham on the most part. I would probably try and opt for a less fatty one next time, but a good first purchase. Good info leaflet, efficient delivery etc

Ham not that great, quite tasteless but block and knife fantastic which I actually wanted so good value for money.Just need to spend a bit more on some decent ham.

Never having bought one of these before I was a bit unsure what to expect, especially since many of the other hams advertised on Amazon had very mixed reviews. The particular ham that we were sent is full of flavour and appears to have a lot if meat there. It does take a leap of faith however to slice deeper and deeper into the fat before you reach the meat but when you realize how thinly you slice it, it will last us a long time

This was bought for me as a present, which was well received.Positives- looks great with the stand, which also makes the meat easy to carve- there is a lot of meat!- tastes great! - but not the best I have tastedNegatives- It is very hard to cut thin slices with the knife provided (but that is probably just my poor knife skills)- Even in a fairly dry environment this gets mouldy (even when covered with oil and cling film), but you just have to wipe this off.Overall I would recommend this for a ham-fan that wants a good looking item to show off.

The stand is very poor quality and needs to be assembled (but instructions not supplied.) In theory assembly should be straight forward but not sure holes have been drilled correctly or I have the correct number of screws/nuts. The stand is basically a cheap piece of wood, stained with poor finishing. Just deciding whether to return or not. Would not have bought this is I had seen it first.

Fantastic quality Ham. Has lasted for a month so far and we still love it. We keep outside as it's too large to fit in the fridge. The stand and knife are good quality for the price. Arrived really quickly in a week from Spain and the suppliers send us emails to keep us in the loop. Will definitely buy again when it eventually runs out
