Very handy for the money. Does what it needs to with reasonable accuracy. Just the job for identifying and disposing of run-down batteries

If like me you have half used batteries filling up a junk drawer then this is great for quickly filtering out what’s worth keeping rather than putting them into say a torch and looking at the power output , it will check a wide range of batteries, requires no batteries itself and gives an instant reading. Just slide the bar and hold the battery to touch the contacts. It can be a little fiddly at times, and the reading does fluctuate. When you connect up the battery it will give a reading and this will then change often reducing slightly. It’s hard to know how accurate it is, I’ve tried new AA batteries and it shows 1.56v, I assume new AA batteries vary slightly and this is normal. In the back of the meter it shows what readings are classed as low power or no good. If you are looking for something which gives fixed accurate readings then this probably isn’t for you, if howerpver you want to get a rough idea if a battery should be binned or has some life left in it this will work perfectly well.

Good very reasonably priced was able to sort through a box of assorted batteries my sister and I found on clearing our deceased father house. Quick check to sort them into still usable or recycling.

Tests all sixes of battery. Very useful if you have loose batteries in a draw.

The display is powered by the cell being tested, which causes a measurable (10%) drop in voltage for smaller cells.

This is so useful for testing those batteries lying around that somehow manage to become 'miscellaneous'! Also we use it to check the charge on rechargeable. Easy enough to use and I really think the digital readout is good for accuracy. You can Google what the correct battery voltage should be, or it should be written on the battery itself. Just make sure you get the contacts aligned with the battery properly. The only thing I found particularly fiddly is testing button batteries because there is a small plastic line that makes it difficult to get the metal contacts to touch each side of the battery properly. A good tip to get around this is to use a small metal paperclip to go under one side of the button battery which helps it make contact properly. This fiddliness on button batteries is the only reason I knocked one star off, otherwise it is fantastic.
