Debris Dust Collector - DB2 Durable Electric Drill Hole Saw Dust Bowl - Power Tool Accessories For Upto 121mm Hole Saws

I used this tool on a job with a 102mm (4") circular saw to install an extractor fan in a bathroom ceiling that had both double-layer plasterboard and lath and plaster. It cut through everything cleanly, with virtually no mess. After years of fitting spotlights and ending up covered in dust, this has been a game-changer. It's an outstanding piece of kit and an absolute must-have for any electrician. Made from a flexible, rubbery material, it flexes easily during use but still feels solid and durable.

Not only does this stop the user and the environment getting covered in plaster dust but it protects your drill as well. It’s a great bit of kit which prevented a horrible mess when having to replace 40 flush mounted lights and drilling the holes a bit bigger. A bugger of a job without this and a home made core to keep the cutter centred in an existing light cut out.

Brilliant solution to cut down on dust and mess.

It wasn't clear to me from the photos or descriptions what this was made out of. The pictures made it seem it was a hard plastic, and it would be damaged by squishing it against the ceiling. But no, never fear, it's made out of a very flexible rubbery (silicone?) material, meaning that when you squish it up against the ceiling it compresses easy and without risking damage to the item. The seal isn't perfect at the base, hence 4 stars out of 5, but it's a tool I now wouldn't be without for fitting downlights. Drilled holes for 16 downlights in about 15 minutes with this helping. Make sure you wait, after drilling, for the dust in the collector to settle before removing it from the ceiling. Then use a hoover to suck up the dust it caught and move straight onto the next hole. If you're drilling plasterboard it's best to hoover the hole edges as well as soon as the collectors comes away, so any loose stuff just waiting to fall doesn't get the chance.

Great product! A game changer for me.

I'm an electrician and have recently had a run of jobs installing downlights, usually I use dustsheets, cloths, mops, buckets, hoovers to clean up afterwards, end up covered in dust, get it in my eyes, hair everywhere.... Got one of these as I had a job installing 18 downlights and thought no way am I going through that again. Initially thought the price was too expensive and if there was a cheaper alternative I would of gone for it but I'm glad there wasn't. Worked a dream with a 72mm holesaw and arbour, very little dust and debris as it caught it all, and what very few bits did fall onto the floor were easily swept up, was really surprised and very pleased. Good tip from another review, once you've stopped drilling, wait a few seconds for the dust to settle then carefully lift away. Before drilling just make sure the the seal is good between the ceiling and the cup. Product is made well, should last (I'm keeping mine in the plastic it arrived in. Really happy with it and would recommend to anyone.
