Works as advertised
Overall easy install and looks good. Noise level is pretty good and light is ok. Good for the price.

Broan exhaust hood is a great value for the money.
I bought this hood to replace my 40 year old one which was broken, when I got a new stovetop. This one is so nice and sleek and I love the quiet fan and bright lights which illuminate my counter. I really feel it's a great value for the price and it gives my kitchen a nice new updated look. It's also nice and solid, and doesn't feel cheap.

Nice hood good value
This is a nice sleek range hood. The two light settings are great the dim one is the one I've used most so far. High is very bright when it reflects off my black stove top. The exhaust fan is MUCH quieter than my old hood. The odd thing is that there seems to be a slight delay when the fan starts on the low setting but starts right up on high setting. Haven't needed fan for any major cooking disasters yet but seemed to work really fast on minor cooking problems. My kitchen remodel contractor installed it so I don't know how difficult it is to install.

Looks good. Good value.
Like the style and 5 inch height. Fan noise is acceptable even on high. Installation was routine (I’ve done several before and had the ductwork and wire positioned correctly and was ready to add blocking to the cabinet’s recessed bottom). Glad I didn’t opt for the more expensive model with two screens and led lighting - it’s for a rental anyway.

Worth the money
Beautiful and functional. Quiet but powerful. Love the bright lights. Brought the kitchen together to complete the stainless steel appliances.

directions and on-line set-up were a little too cryptic for me...not much explanation. but i'm 60!
Nice unit. Bit directions were scanty. You have to use your iPhone and scan the icon on the item's plastic packaging to do the set-up. Thankfully, i had help! But the unit works like a charm. Much improvement over my old netgear router.

Awesome range hood!
I like this particular model because it's only about 5" tall. My cabinets were installed slightly lower than standard so I needed a sleek, slim profile that doesn't come down too low. The description here says 1.5 sones but the box says 3.5 and the documentation says 5 sones. Anyway, it's super quite on the low setting and just okay on the highest. I installed mine as ductless so it required HPF1 charcoal filter (sold separately $15). The two halogen bulbs were included with the unit. I really like the rounded corners! This was a great buy!

Simple and effective replacement for an old range hood
First, check the "other sellers" options for this range hood. The list price for a brand new one is about $129 ($112 on sale at the time of this review). I got mine in white for $50 as an open box from Amazon with the condition listed as "used - very good, will arrive repackaged." It came in the original box and is effectively a brand new unit with no scratches, marks, or signs of wear. So, if you can, save yourself 50% on the cost and check to see if there's one on a steep discount, because that makes this even more of a value.Anyway, difficulties with the removal of my old range hood aside, this one was easy to install. Punch out the bits in the hood that you need removed based on your duct preference, 4 to 6 screws to get it in place, two wire nuts, then move on with your day. If your previous hood was installed well, removal and reinstallation shouldn't take more than an hour or so.A bit about my personal experience that might help:My ductwork for the range hood was previously installed vertically to run through the cabinet above the range - you know the cabinet: that small half cabinet that has the casing for the ductwork in it. Typically, these cabinets are supposed to be able to slide out independent of the rest of the cabinetry by removing the screws holding it in place, allowing you access to the ductwork. No such luck in my case - some jerk installed the cabinets prior to a soffit being installed, nailed and screwed everything in, then put drywall and other fixtures up around it. So, I had to work in the small void space at the bottom. The ductwork I had was perfectly sized for the included damper, but due to the low profile of the damper, it could not reach the range hood from the bottom of the ductwork. I had about a 4 inch gap from the bottom of the damper to the range hood due to the cabinet having an overhang caused by the previous range hood having more height at the damper connection to connect to the duct. Basically, the old cabinets and duct were installed with that rangehood in mind, not future ones.To work around this, I found that I could insert the new damper into the base of the previous one and then attach that to the base of the ductwork. As the new damper was not as wide as the previous one's base, I selected a compressible, high durability weather stripping to fill void spaces and seams between the two dampers. Once installed, the weather stripping compressed neatly into the void spaces where pressure was applied and would attempt to re-expand in others, creating an air tight gasket.By doing so, I was able to effectively use the damper from my previous range hood as an adapter to overcome the gap between the duct base and my cabinet base. Just make sure that the fan on this unit will be strong enough to lift the damper if you have to create an adapter out of the old one.All in all, the new unit is clean look and low profile. much better than the bulky, grease caked hood that I had previously.Oh, as a final note, the bulbs are halogens, not LED. While they are extremely bright and illuminate the cooktop very well, they will burn you if you touch them during operation, so be careful.

Works well, looks good.
Burned finger on the light on the first day. Had to buy a couple LED lights which stay cool but do not work on the dimmer switch. Otherwise, it is good. The fan works well.
