Great results after lots of practice
With practice this glidecam can produce some great smooth video. Expensive but built to last (hopefully) . I went for a system without electronics and motors as there is less to go wrong and this should be more rugged.

Beaten into submission by an expensive piece of aluminium with a bearing.
I did lots of lookin on these type of camera stabilizers and it was narrowed down to just 2 from Glidecam who seem to manufacture the best types. It was a toss up between the HD 2000 and the XR Pro, so I contacted Glidecam for their advice and went with the XR Pro.I watched before and after purchase probably every video on Youtube regards the use, reviews and the balancing of these stabilizers and I have an engineering background and also know how to balance things as it was part of my job in engineering once.Hour after hour I spent with my Canon G40 and the XR Pro on a bench trying to get this all to balance correctly. More weight on top, less weight on the top, more weight on the bottom, then less weight on the bottom. Extend the shaft, reduce the shaft.Watch again more videos on Youtube. More hours spent balancing and even got my laser level out to see how close I was until after endless weight variations and half millimeter adjustments, I could say it was 95% spot on as regards 360° balancing. A lot closer than those on Youtube. ....... but hey if a jobs worth doing !So I pick it up off the bench stand, camera switched on and without moving an inch, this thing just swayed and turned anyway the slightest movement allowed it to go.Back to Youtube and a new video from someone which highlighted this very problem and the remedy was to extend the shaft (which was against all other video advice). So after re-weighting it and shaft extended I was almost there when the shaft fell out as the shaft was fully extended and no more adjustment possible.Life is too short. I was determined not to let it beat me but I have to admit defeat. I must have spent 12 hours of my life trying to figure out this Glidecam, not to mention the many nights glued to Youtube videos on the same subject. How anybody with no practical knowledge/ability is supposed to achieve success with it is a mystery. As regards balancing it is purely a pig because there is no micro adjustment facility, just undo all - move and retighten. Such a pain to do when a couple of minimal cost simple adjustment screws would save lots of heartache..........Why no adjustment screws Glidecam? As regards the sway and turning wherever it wants to go, possibly the gimble needs to be allowed to be moved up and down to change the center of gravity? ......... To be honest I just can't think about it anymore as my head will explode!UPDATE:I contacted Glidecam regards my problems and why no adjustment facility. No proper explanation as to why I was having the problems I did.Any way there are is newer technology out there that is more user friendly and certainly at less cost than upgrading to the higher spec Glidecams.

Amazing product
Love the product, steep learning curve when balancing the camera/operating the glide cam. Works really well with my 60D + mic and quick release plate

Ottimo.Quasi perfetto

No minor adjustments, hard to setup.
I bought this with the intention of moving from a gimbal to glidecams. BUT I will be waiting until I have the money for the More expensive model. below is a list of pros and cons. don't get me wrong. this has a place on the market. but it is in no way my market.Cons:- There are no minor adjustments with this. you have to adjust your camera's body on the slider by slowly adjusting it in small increments.- there is no way to dynamically and statically balance this. which is why the glide cam rotates crazily when you spin it. I was able to separately balance it statically and dynamically but not both at the same time.- It takes so long to balance you won't even want to use it when you finally get it close to balanced.pros:- the price is right where it should be for something that will do the job.- the quality is very good. the grip doesn't spin or twist. weights are high qualityThe biggest issue with the XR series is the lack of adjustment knobs. or even that you cant buy the head with adjustment knobs on their website.
