2012 release, the highly anticipated third release from the Death Metal 'band' from the Adult Swim animated series Metalocalypse. This CD contains music from the second, third and fourth seasons of the show. Metalocalypse, the hit Adult Swim show centers around the biggest, most metalest band in the world, Dethklok. As the band goes about their daily affairs, the evil Tribunal tries in vain to stop Dethklok from expanding their empire. Dethalbum III offers 12 tracks that are more brutal than ever before. Prepare for an onslaught of bone-crunching Nordic riffs that will force you to your knees. The Metalocalypse has begun Review: Metal perfection - Having watched the series "Metalocalypse" and being a fan. This album seems more mature in song structure than the previous albums, despite keeping the humour value. The album opener is definitely a high point and what follows comes amazingly close. This is a perfect album for any Metal fan who does not take themselves seriously all the time. Great tunes, great riffs and great humour. Also good for people looking to expand their metal interests. As you can easily understand the vocals, it's a good step into the heavier part of the metal genre. Review: Everything I expected. - Brendon has created another work of art. Dethalbum 3 is just as good as its predecessors if not better. I don't know what previous reviewers are complaining about as I received the explicit edition and definitely not the censored. But anyway, for any metal fan or fan of Dethklok, I can not recommend this enough.

Brutal
When you watch "Metalocalypse" and do enjoy the music in the show you won't be disappointed. The third Dethalbum is as great as the first and the second. And the deluxe edition comes with a DVD, a 30 min documentary about the making of the third dethalbum which is fun to watch.

As metal as ever. Another great album, still on top form. A bit sad not to see another mermaid song.

fun, catchy and creative
Excellent album, Brendon Small is incredibly creative and this creation will have you jamming along throughout! Gene Hoglan the "the atomic clock" is just awesome! The technical rhythms he lays down is mesmerising and adds so much to Brendons creative and intense guitar work. Best of their albums by far!

As far as the album goes, I already had it from iTunes, and I also caught the Dethklok show in Toronto, but I still wanted it on vinyl. This band is absolutely amazing, and this 3rd album is the best one yet. Their sound has evolved, with more complex time signatures and crazier solos, but it still sounds very much like Dethklok. This LP only has 3 sides, and the 4th side is an etched graphic, which was a first time I've seen that. Looks really cool, sounds great. I also want to point out the album was delivered right to my front door 2 days after I placed the order. I don't know how you do it amazon, but you're amazing. Makes me wonder why I even go to actual stores anymore.

This album sure isn't anything new but it's as brutal and effective as ever. For the fans of the show (Metalocalypse, where the fictional band Dethklok origins for those who wouldn't know) and/or those who enjoy good melodic death metal, this album is damn good. While Dethklok may be considered by some as a fake band and one that doesn't deserve recognition, the musicians behind these songs are very real and they stick to a winning formula since the first Dethalbum.

Brendon Small and company prove once again that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of metal. To release two incredible albums in one year - Galaktikon and Dethalbum III - is NO small feat! I tip my hat to them and their productivity. Now then, who will like Dethalbum III? Well, if you liked Dethalbum II, chances are you'll love this one. I liked the original Dethalbum but not Dethalbum II, I can tell you right now that Dethklok is heading in a less melodic direction and toward pure, ugly brutality. That's not to say there aren't some melodic pieces on this album. Crush The Industry, The Galaxy, and Skyhunter are my personal favorites on the album, and I Ejaculate Fire has, hands down, the greatest guitar solo ever written. That's right, I said it, and I regret nothing. The focus on this album is definitely on the incredibly guitar and drums, with technique taking precedence over a melodic experience. Gone are the ballads like Go Into The Water and Black Fire Upon Us, replaced instead with aural blitzkriegs from Small's Thunderhorse Gibson Guitar. This is the heaviest work Dethklok has released to date, and if you're not ready for "The Dreaded Hexikicks" in Killstardo Abominate, then you're not ready for this album. If you love the show, though, and especially Season 3 and 4, then you'll love this album. As usual, the lyrics reflect the events of the episodes, even after years of rewrites and improvements. If you are familiar with the story of the show, then you'll get a laugh out of the subtle references in the songs back to the show itself. While the subject matter of the songs is not overtly funny, it's also not as dark as that in some other death metal. It's all done tongue-in-cheek here, par for the course for Dethklok, but done with skill lightyears beyond what could be found on the original Dethalbum. Yes, avoid the censored version, as the few swears that are on this album are actually smartly used to comedic effect. I can only guess how much is lost without them.
