A street light controller really - beware
I bought the greenish, DMD – Demuda controller with two yellow buttons. Some reviews are of a different model, blue in colour and with three buttons. I think this is leading to some confusion as the buttons work in slightly differently ways and the menu screens are also different. The DMD controller is basically a street light controller, designed to charge a battery during the daytime and then automatically switch on a load for lighting at night. This presents a problem as, during the day, when the controller decides that the battery is full, it switches to sleep mode (with a moon symbol on the LCD). In this mode it stops charging the battery, switches off the USB sockets and switches off the load voltage. It remains in this sleep mode until it deems it to be night time, recognised when the solar panel voltage falls to low levels. It then automatically switches on the load voltage ie the lights, until daytime on the next day. However, during the daytime, once in sleep mode, if you use the battery for something else and want the controller to start charging it again then the only way seems to be to fool the controller into thinking that its night time by either covering the solar panel or disconnecting its positive lead from the controller and then reconnecting it. Once in sleep mode, the controller does not seem to be able to detect that the battery voltage is falling and therefore reactivate charging from the solar panel to the battery on its own. This severely limits the use of the DMD controller as a controller for automatic battery charging. It is a pity that the description of this product does not state that this is really a street light controller which works really well in this capacity.Been using it for 2 months with no problem. I have put a simple on/off switch in the positive line from the solar panel to the controller so that if the controller switches into sleep mode I can simply switch the panel off and on again to put the controller back into active charge mode. On a sunny day I get over 8 amps into the battery from a 260 watt panel even in January.

Great value entry level controller
Very simple to use, plenty of Youtube videos to help.Great value entry level controller. I paired mine with a 20V solar panel and was up and running within an hour.Most of that time was mounting the solar panel and then finding the right gauge of wire for the battery connection.Now, need a Rasberry Pi to handle the stuff on the other end... :-)

If only it had proper instructions...
At first this charge controller worked fine. Now it doesn't allow any charge in from the solar panels or any load into my system from about 12.30-2.30pm every day, when the sun is at its best.Why? I don't know, and I cannot find out because the instruction manual is not only badly translated from Chinese, it also bears little relation to the actual interface and features of the product!The manual describes features that don't appear to exist, and fails to mention quite a lot of confusing things that happen. For instance, there is an unexplained screen that shows only 'A00' that can be modified to any number up to 'A99'. Who can tell what that is. And what is L0? No idea but it can also have several values...
