Better than expected.
I bought this weather station to replace one I have had for over ten years and was going faulty.Firstly I read many reviews and did not want to spend a lot of money. This unit looked to be too good to be true, which actually put me off buying it for some time. It was my wife who finally insisted that I make a decision and so I took the plunge and ordered it from Amazon.I need not have worried. It arrived well packaged and with all the high quality bits and pieces nicely protected. I found it very easy to set up, the only awkward bit was putting the outside sensors up on the pole. I achieved this with a couple of brackets.Batteries inserted into the base station, followed by the main sensor and a few minutes wait while the electronics did their thing, was all there was too it. It works superbly. The weather forecast side is excellent. Air pressure seems to be accurate and the graphic display really does show you what is going on. The rain gauge also works well.I like the fact that you can change the various indicators from metric to imperial easily. The wind speed can be shown in mph, kph, knots or Beafort scale. The unit has features that I won't use, like alarms if the wind gets too much, or the temperature drops too low.I happily give this item 5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, quality little weather station.

Excellent product
Very happy with my purchase. I had been looking for a weather station across the web, in German resources, mainly. My must-haves were atomic clock signal, today's date clearly displayed (that criterion often failed with items that focus on weather data), inside and outside temperature and air humidity, reliability and ease of use of the instrument in terms of reception of the outside signal and longevity. Next, I hesitated between the type that displays the weather forecast for four days based on official met offices and the one that comes with rain and wind sensors. What ideally I would also have had is moon phases. Often, that comes with the 4-day official forecast type, not with the private weather station type. In the end, I decided rather quickly, having spent way too much time reading reviews, when suddenly I discovered this model on the UK Amazon site, and saw how high the level of customer satisfaction was. I have not regretted my choice so far.The product is excellently packaged. Out of the box, everything looks sturdy, although the scoops of the wind sensor (anemometer) seem fragile, but then they need to be light and hyper-mobile, so that is not a negative. I found the brief installation guide clear enough (maybe it has been improved compared to when others complained about that), with honest yet sensible explanation of the fact that the different instruments should really be placed at very different heights (anemometer at 10 m; rain collector at 30 cm; temperature gauge at 1-1.5m, but that this is much harder to do in practice than keeping everything combined as one weather station: "a fixed-sensor suite ... ensures that the system is straightforward to install and requires low maintenance". However, as my pics show, it is possible, with some extra work (a total of 3 hours, including shopping), to respect the ideal heights a little better: my rain sensor is at 40 cm (I didn't dare go lower for fear of damage when I mow the lawn) and the thermo-hygro sensor is at 1.3 m, both installed on a simple broom handle, using the attachment system provided, the broom handle simply driven into the soil using a mallet (and a spirit level to check whether the rain sensor would be level). The wind sensor has been installed on the short metal pole that is in the box, which I strapped (using the attachments provided in the box) to a synthetic tube--actually, three plumbing pipes of 1m each, connected with joints you can buy. This does not result in a pole that can be stood independently, but in my situation, I could secure the lower end a) by first driving a suitable wooden pole into the ground, over which the synthetic tube sits; b) tying the upper end to the top of the swings (no longer in active use). In this way, the wind sensor is located a good 3 metres high. You can't really go higher if you want your thermosensor at no higher than 1.5 m since the connecting wire is probably 2m long. Others have wondered here why the wires are that long: it does enable you to put the different sensors further apart than is suggested in the "fixed-sensor suite" description. Of course, my wind sensor is far too close to the house and to the high trees in the vicinity, but it's the best I could do and probably will give a more reliable reading than if I had just kept it all together at around 1.5 m (temperature is my priority reading).IMPORTANT: you have to be REALLY patient before the atomic clock signal is picked up. The guide does not say so, but it can take up to 24 hours, or more, The Weather Store told me when I contacted them, worried that nothing had happened after several hours. I had begun to try out different locations for the sensor, but they (rightly) told me to select my own preferred position and then to do nothing, either to the sensor or the base station, for up to 24 hours: after 5 hours the signal was found. When I then did the proper installation outside, the signal at first seemed alright, so I fixed everything in place, but when I got back inside the base station was no longer displaying the DCF symbol. Arrgh! I had learned to be more patient, though, and 15 hours later, the symbol was back :-).

Difficult to install, small fiddly screws for rain gauge & wind-speed gauge, no tools supplied and only Philips type screwdriver I could find small enough was part of a spectacle repair kit which was not strong enough to tighten screws. It took me 5 hours to install and it was a nightmare trying to work out how to change the readings from centigrade to Fahrenheit, Knots to MPH & mm to Inches as the instructions were not to clear on how to do this, I eventually managed to change them after much trial and error. The clock set itself without any trouble and displayed the time in British Summertime accurately. The temperature & barometer readings do not appear to be accurate as the indoor temperature registers 2 degrees F higher than two other thermometers I have whilst the outdoor temperature registers 3 degrees lower, the barometer measurement is 3 higher than other barometers I have.I am now waiting for it to rain to see how accurate the rainfall readings are.The rain gauge is totally inaccurate giving readings 50% higher than they really are. This weather station is crap, AVOID.I also ordered a power adapter which came enclosed with the weather station and had its own compartment as though this was part of the kit.The heights and distances recommended in the instructions are impossible to achieve in a normal housing area

Lots of functionality for the price
This arrived very promptly and was easy to set up, although I would advise buying a suitably sized tv aerial bracket to fix the mast securely to an outside fence post or similar, rather than using the jubilee clips supplied. I would have given it five stars except for an issue with the wind sensor, which I think is significantly under-reading. Theukweatherstore were very helpful and sent me a replacement sensor, but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. I get a reading of around 8 mph when a look out the window tells me it's blowing a gale. Maybe the mast needs to be moved to a more exposed position. Other than that, the readings seem to be very consistent with other instruments I have. The ability to zero the rainfall gauge at any time is very useful if you want to know how much rain has fallen overnight, and the indoor/outdoor humidity readings are a welcome addition.
