Noticeably Warmer Feet On 1st Ride
This morning I wore a pair of Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Wool Socks on my predawn ride. The socks are size Large, I wear a size 9.5 Vans & size 10 Topo (running shoe). I wore the Vans on my ride. The socks were a bit snug at the toes (may order X-Large pair). They came up to my mid calf & were snug as well (calf measures 14.25”/36.5cm at top of sock). The socks are not very thick, just slightly thicker than my workout socks. Because of this, they did not make my shoes feel any tighter. The socks did not fall during my ride. The wool is very comfortable, not scratchy or rough in any way. The temperature was 40F (5C) during my 40 minute ride. I did wear a pair of Hot Sockee neoprene toe covers as well. With these, my feet & toes remained warm & the cold was never an issue. My feet did not become sweaty on this short ride. The socks are a bit pricey, but we’re noticeably warmer than my normal socks. I’ll update this post as I wear them in colder temperatures & on how they hold up over time.

Amazing quality and my go-to socks for outdoor activities
So I was in the market for merino wool socks, for the following reasons :-- Merino wool keeps you warm even if you get wet.- It lets the sweat evaporate and keeps your feet dry- Anti odor- Could even be worn in warm temps without being uncomfortableI got these just before 100k race. Although meant for biking I knew these would work just fine for any outdoor activity. These performed great, although temps were between 40-60F during the race, so I cannot commit for how these would work in much colder temps. It also depends on the kind of footwear you wear it with, if inside winter boots I feel you could do like 20F but I haven't done that myself to comment on it. I would rate them for spring and fall kind of transition weather with normal running\biking shoes. These have adequate cushion for the long run. I got the shadow grey color which I like. I am 5'6 143 pounds with EUR 41, and I got small which fit perfectly. I would highly recommend these, specially if you can find it on sale like I did on Amazon.**If you find my review useful then please click the 'Yes' in helpful. Beware of mixups getting shipped of new 67% wool versus old 48% wool version
The most recent (2016) version of this Pearl Izumi sock has suggested retail of $20 and has 67% merino wool, 30% nylon 3% elastane. Amazon had this as its description but what they sent was the old model with 49% wool. So sent it back.Frustrated, I resorted to shopping locally and ended up purchase one pair of the old model with only 48% wool, on sale at local bike shop for half price! But still not what I wanted. Wanted high wool content for cold club rides this winter!!! As far as general impressions, I love Pearl Izumi in general as their stuff alway has fitted me dead on. The wool so far helps a little on a couple of 40 degree, high wind chill rides compared to my normal polyester blend summer bike socks. I still need my wind booties over my shoes - simple toe covers don't cut it for me. Hard to say if wool or synthetic is better for heat retention, will hopefully get to buy the 67% model once Amazon or LBS gets them. . So once I can be sure Amazon has the newer model for sale I can order them.......

2nd pair- so good, bought again. Great sock- but 54% wool in Grey heather
Second pair of these socks. I wash in warm or cold, inside out, and air dry on rack with no issues. Not overly thick so did not affect shoe fit (my waterproof socks are super thick and tight fit in shoes). I wear a 41 shoe and initially bought a Medium, which is too tight around leg and foot -- Large is just right -- no looseness, solid fit.Toasty, comfortable even in single digits tonight on commute.NOTE: neither the grey nor the black came in other than 54% when delivered to me, regardless of description for product. I did advise Amazon of the discrepancy, for whatever good that may provide.

keep your toes from freezing while running in the winter!
The only way these could be better is if they were longer and not so tight on the calf. I don't have big calves at all but these are super tight around the top. Keeps them from falling down for sure, but I'd like it if they were even a few inches longer. I wear them for running, and they keep my toes from freezing in below zero wind chills with only my running shoes on. Tried running with the neoprene toe covers on over the socks and I swear my feet were colder with the neoprene on. I ended up taking the neoprene off halfway thru my run and my toes were actually warmer. Love these socks!

Top is tight!
So, the socks are nice and I like them except for how tight the top is, I don’t have thick ankles and calves but these still dig in pretty good after a few hours. If I leave them on a few hours after my ride they start to hurt. The foot portion is comfortable though.

Toasty Toes
I've ridden through the fall and winter. My toes stay warm and dry. I have not used toe warmers yet. This is a sturdy, warm, and comfortable cycling sock. Just pair them with cool weather shoes and not your mesh summer shoes.

Great socks
Comfortable, warm, lightweight, and the right length. I have 3 pairs of these, and I've worn them on and off the bike, both for hiking and casual use. They come up to mid-calf, so they might be a bit long for hot summer days, but in the fall and spring, they're ideal. Soft wool is hard to beat, and these have kept my feet warm even when wet. If you're expecting really thick wool socks, these aren't for you. But if you need something that breathes well and will keep you warm in cool temps, give these a try.

Buena calidad, demasiado pequeños
Sin cómodos y suficientemente calientes, pero demasiado pequeños, compramos los grandes y quedaron pequeños incluso a mi esposa.
