Kurio Tab 2 Motion 7-Inch Tablet (Intel, 8 GB RAM, Android 5)

I was a bit wary about buying this tablet, as some reviews had said that it was poor quality or had very low storage, but I took a chance. Well, I'm glad I did! This Kurio tablet may not have the screen resolution and the pixel density of a more expensive tablet, but let's face it - a 9 year-old is not going to care too much about that when it has plenty of good games already installed on it and has access to the Google Play store so you can install other apps easily. It also feels really solidly made and it comes with a blue plastic bumper and a stand that you can place in two different positions. I'd advise buying a 32GB SD card so you can store extra photos, music and offline videos (for those long car journeys), and not all that many more expensive tablets allow you to do that. There were already several children's e-books installed on the tablet, as well as the games, and the 'motion' games are brilliant for getting children moving about (especially the swimming one - it's better than Wii!). The web browser in the kid's profile is really well protected (and I made sure that it couldn't load up pages that it shouldn't), so that was another plus. What's more, the 'parent's profile' looks just like any other Android tablet and you can customise it however you like. The 8GB of onboard storage wasn't a problem at all, as you can uninstall any of the preinstalled apps that you don't like and put your own apps on instead. I installed Sims Freeplay and Farmville 2 without any problems at all. My son loves it and now I'm thinking about getting one for myself as well.

Amazing little tablet for my children, so easy to use - Even has voice commands built in as it has Google and all usual aspects of a tablet. Watch Youtube, play games and print the pictures off all from this powerful device. Yes it is fast, battery life is amazing and it seems to me that many tablets are out that lock you to one thing (like their apps only) bit not this. It really is like a min-pc in your hands. Super simple to use, my two year old says "pepper pig" and up it comes! Did I mention the rubber case is easy to hold, protective and does not block the ports (charge/screen out). Simply amazed that as this is cheaper than a lot of "big brands" it is so much better. Really, take note Samsung and Apple...

Don’t waste money. Super slow device, can’t play anything on YouTube as device is outdated, only thing that really works is a couple games, so glad my child hasn’t seen it yet because would be so disappointed

Good tabled for young kids with good parental controls. Has a lot of kids appropriate apps in the Kurio store; some free and some not. Software is not too fast but its not a major issue. However, unable to save any apps on the external SD card which means that there is only a small number of apps that can be downloaded. Also unable to update any apps due to lack of internal storage space. I searched every possible solution via Google but was unable to solve yjis issue hence only 3*.

We have been going back and forth for a while now, weighing up between a normal tablet and a childrens tablet for our kids, ultimately cost being the deciding factor; it is for 2 kids under 7. Ultimately, once they are older though we will be investing in a normal tablet for them. In terms of look, feel, quality and potential durability, I am pleasantly impressed all around with these. It's a good looking bit of tech. Speed and software, it's a little slow (1Gb Ram, not surprised) and takes a bit of patience to navigate around and the getting used to it after the initial setup, but it does become quite easy once familiar with it, and also with changing between accounts (Which you will do a lot initially). Parental Controls, I am very impressed with these as you can fully lock it down and it does work (Unlike others I have used) along with blocking any form of internet and Play Store activity, including simple dedicated options to turn these on and off. On the childs account it won't show any apps unless approved by you, with a very simple select process to either block or approve in the parents account. Setting up note: Don't switch any parental controls on initially i.e. Internet and Play Store, until you are happy that everything is in place for the childs account; I didn't do this initially and it tested my patience. Overall, I am very happy with it and have recommended it to a few friends in similar positions. There are a couple of negatives with it, but these are minor, but are things I would have liked to have known before buying, but wouldn't have put me off. 1Gb Ram - It's by no means as quick as your phone or a normal tablet. 8Gb Internal Storage - This fills up rapidly, especially after updating the software. So buy a 32Gb SDHC Micro SD Card with it (You can buy a Sandisk one for £6), this is for non-app use i.e. pictures, movies etc. otherwise within 24Hrs the 8Gb will be full just from updating the software running the tablet, and boy does it slow it down. (Uninstalling apps obviously does free up space) Apps Pre-Installed - Nearly all of the childrens apps have adverts, and you need to pay between £0.99p and £2 to remove them for each app. However, you can uninstall them and install your own chosen ones from the Play Store, which is what we have now done. The Google apps can't be uninstalled, but they can be blocked from the childs account. All in all a good all round basic tablet suitable for kids under 7 that functions well and is easy to use. Has its cons but the pros so far have out weighed them.

Highly recommend... It was a Christmas prezzie for my 7yr old son. He loves it.. I love the way it has the parental control its quick and easy to set up and makes him feel more independent. But it dose say about connecting it to the tv. But had to buy the wire separately....

Was excited to purchase this product for my kids. Was looking for a tablet with parent control. Used it for 6 months and one day it just refused to switch on. It kept showing reloading error message but never came on. And it’s still not working. OK! I know sometimes computers mess up. But the most annoying thing was I have rang, send emails, left messages on Kurio’s website and customer service. The calls kept entering voicemail. Still not heard nothing. Zilch. Nada. Their silence is deafening. They haven’t even bothered to acknowledge my messages even with a pre-populated email, more so respond. I’m so disappointed. My kids were. I have had to replace it with an iPad that I installed parent control. I don’t know why they never returned my calls. Or probably they’re waiting for the warranty to expire. Just want a refund for a crappy kids tablet. And to know I paid almost £100. It’s not worth the lack of support. I’ve gotten better customer service from cheaper products.

I bought two of this. My children liked them and they use them now for more than five months and it is absolutely fantastic and value for money, I couldn't recommend them more

Ein wirklich super schönes Tablet ! Ich hatte die Hoffnung schon fast aufgegeben zum Geburtstag noch etwas zuverlässiges zu finden. Erst hatten wir das Snakebyte Kids Tablet was beim an tippen kaum oder gar nicht reagierte weil es mit ein paar kleinen Spiele völlig überfordert war und keine schönen Spiele und Gestaltung hatte, dann das Blaupunkt PC 4Kids wo die Ladebuchse ständig kaputt ging und viel zu lange geladen hat oder andere ein so altes Betriebssystem hatten oder Clementoni wo gleich die Tab Fläche kaputt war. Das ist meine erste Bewertung. Mach das sonst nicht. Aber wir sind alle so zu frieden, dass ich es heute mal mache, weil wir wirklich lange gesucht haben. Es sind mehr als 50 kostenlose vorinstallierte APPS drauf mit echt schönen Spielen und TOGGO und es kann sofort los gelegt werden ohne stundenlanges einrichten, Sportspiele wie bei der Wii zum davor stellen und mitspielen, sicherer Elternbereich vom Kinder Bereich getrennt mit bis zu 8 verschiedenen Benutzerprofile ,hängt nicht bei Video Bilder oder Spiele, reagiert beim berühren der Tab Fläche sofort ohne Verzögerung, gutes Sichtfeld mit klaren schönen Farben, superschöne Spiele drauf( ertappe mich manchmal selbst wie ich anfange zu spielen wenn sie nicht da ist), Märchen werden vor gelesen oder können selbst gelesen werden mit kleinen Überraschungen zwischendurch zum antippen und umblättern mit schönen Bildern, Andrid fähig und man macht sich vom Hersteller nicht abhänig wie Fire Kids Edition wo wir uns ständig dort anmelden mussten wenn wir was runterladen wollten und auch so und im zweiten Jahr kann man dann dafür noch bezahlen, ladet schnell auf und am WE wenn sie verteilt auf 2 bis 3 stunden spielt ist der Akku nicht so schnell leer, ladet sich schnell auf, haben noch zusätzlich eine Speicherkarte rein gemacht, klare schöne Töne, schöne feste Gummiummantelung zur Sicherheit. Wir lieben es alle in der Familie.

Besser geht es nicht! Mein Kind kann damit sehr gut umgehen und es ist leicht verständlich, die Inhalte lassen sich auf Alter abstimmen und die Elternkontrolle ist optimal!

Das Kurio ist im großen und ganzen nicht schlecht. Allerdings stört mich dass es nicht möglich ist Apps bzw. Spiele auf die SD Karte zu speichern. So ist der interne Speicher ruck zuck voll wenn meine Tochter wieder mal einige neue Spiele downloaden will. Ebenso ist auch das löschen von Apps sehr kompliziert. Da muss man sich schon länger damit beschäftigen. Ich würde das Tablet nicht mehr für meine Tochter kaufen. Anstatt dessen besser ein Samsung oder Apple Tablet und mit den entsprechenden Jugendschutzeinstellungen.

Wir haben das Tablet für unseren Sohn gekauft der fünf Jahre alt ist. Wir sind mit dem Tablet sehr zufrieden die Aufmachung ist sehr gut das Gerät ist stabil und die Bedienung ist leicht. Unser Sohn freut sich sehr über die Spiele über das Vorlesen und über die Möglichkeit Fernsehen über das Tablet zu sehen. Im Großen und Ganzen sind wir zufrieden mit dem Tablet. Das einzige warum wir keine 5 Sterne gegeben haben ist der Hinweis in der Bedienungsanleitung dass man das Tablet nicht bei 5% lassen sollte weil sonst Akku Schaden droht. Aber wenn man darauf einfach etwas achtet sollte das glaube ich nicht das Problem sein um dieses Tablet nicht zu kaufen. Von uns aus eine absolute Empfehlung für Kinder ab 5 die den Umgang mit dem Tablet lernen wollen.
