I purchased this unit thinking it is the latest model. This is last year's model. This Spectre 15 DOES not come with a numeric keypad, no fingerprint reader and no pen.Amazon should have informed us that this is an old model and a newer version available.

Amazing laptop

I did not but this laptop via Amazon but picked it out at Best Buy, this was before the newer version with the numeric pad on the keyboard ever came out. I've had it a little over a year now & absolutely love it, best Laptop I've ever had (and I've had quite a few!) The 4k screen is stunning with actual 4k media, the sound gets more than loud enough for my purposes & with the proper USB dongles you can add Ethernet, 2 more USB 3.0 ports & another HDMI out & it says it can actually support running 2 external monitors at 4k while running the built-in screen at 4k. I don't have 2 other 4k screens to connect to it so I cannot validate that claim, but it's done everything I needed & more. The battery life on it is quite impressive as well! The only negative I've ever read about this machine is that it can get a bit hot (only when running CPU / GPU intensive processes. I've only had the fans run on high & it get warm while playing a Steam game with an awful lot of detail & actually use it on a lap bench with a dual fan under it. The game hasn't slowed down or anything, it just makes me nervous hearing the fans work so hard. With the fan tray between the laptop & lap tray, they don't run very hard anymore. With all that said, I'm very happy with it & hopefully it'll be my laptop for many years to come. There is a review on here about the battery life being really bad, I can't help but wonder if they got a bad machine & should send it in for work, almost sounds like a hardware issue.I have nothing to gain by posting this, I just wanted to help people out who are shopping as I did a lot of research prior to taking this home myself. 16 GB stock DDR5 ram in a laptop is pretty impressive!I originally picked up a 13" of about the same quality but wanted a better screen for home use. Definitely makes my backpack quite heavy & it seems like the power supply is 3 times the size of the 13" 4k laptop, but I wanted a bigger screen (but paid for it with the cost of increas. Love the backlit keyboard too! Mine did NOT come with a stylus even though it was in Best Buy's picture so I ended up buying one (can't recall which one, but it's takes a AAAA battery, so it'll be a special order when that dies!). I would have preferred a silver chassis but this was what they had at the time I liked, a lot & the copper color is growing on me.Hope this helps someone!

I purchased this laptop on HPs website on sale for Prime Day. I had it 2 days before it wouldn't even turn on. I got a replacement which right away had no sound (a problem I saw on the message boards) . Multiple hours and 2 tech sessions later the camera won't turn on and it keeps freezing (also a common issue on message boards). If it worked I really liked the computer so I thought I would give it one more chance but then HP told me they wouldn't exchange it. I have to return the computer for a refund and place a new order. At full price now. No thank you, I'll go elsewhere.

Has a battery drain issue that is unsolvable. There is no known fix and it can only be patched to decrease the drain. The computer also had to have settings changed as it randomly will freeze. It is not worth the issues AT ALL. It is NOT worth the money for the extensive issues. These are widespread issues.
