Five Years In, This Is Still Our Go-To Detergent
We’ve been using Dirty Labs consistently for more than five years, and it remains one of our favorite laundry products. What keeps us coming back is the balance of cleaning power and scent. The fragrance is soft and elevated without being overwhelming, which matters to me because I’m very sensitive to stronger commercial detergent scents like Tide or Gain. I used to default to free-and-clear formulas, but I always missed having just a little fragrance. This gives me that without feeling overpowering. With “designer detergent” becoming more popular, this is still the type I prefer. It gives laundry that more sophisticated, fragrance-forward experience, but I also like that the formula is built around bio enzymes and a more thoughtfully formulated approach to cleaning rather than fragrance being the main attraction. The enzyme cleaning power is excellent. One of my favorite uses is washing sneakers and training shoes. They come out looking noticeably cleaner, often close to new again, and smell fresh without being heavily perfumed. We’ve also been very happy with its general stain and odor removal. My biggest criticism is the dispensing. The included silicone measuring cup is useful, but pouring the concentrated detergent directly from the bottle can become sticky, messy, and a little wasteful. We also purchased the Dirty Labs dispensing vessel, but ultimately found it more frustrating than helpful. It reminded me of a hand-soap dispenser, and we were often left with detergent at the bottom that the pump could no longer reach. I would love to see Dirty Labs offer a simple long-straw pump designed to fit the actual detergent bottles. That would make an already excellent product much easier and cleaner to use. Overall, after more than five years of regular use, the cleaning performance, stain removal, and gentle elevated scent are still what keep us buying it.

Great Cleaning Power, Thoughtful Ingredients, and Lasts Longer Than Expected
I’ve repurchased this detergent and plan to continue doing so because it checks a lot of boxes for me. The biggest reason is the ingredient list. I’m very intentional about the products I bring into my home, and I appreciate that Dirty Labs focuses on bioenzymatic cleaning technology and thoughtfully formulated ingredients rather than relying on harsher chemicals. The Murasaki scent is pleasant and clean without being overpowering. It’s not necessarily my favorite fragrance of all time, but I enjoy it enough that I never get tired of smelling it on freshly washed clothes. The scent feels subtle and sophisticated rather than artificial or overwhelming. One thing I’ve noticed is that the detergent lasts longer than the packaging suggests. The bottle is marketed for 32 loads, but I routinely get more than that because I adjust the amount based on the size and soil level of each load. A little goes a long way, and I’ve found it to be very concentrated. Most importantly, it cleans well. My clothes come out fresh, and I feel good knowing I’m using a product whose ingredient philosophy aligns with my values. If you’re looking for a detergent with effective cleaning performance, a pleasant scent, and a cleaner ingredient profile, I think this is worth the investment. It’s become a staple in my laundry routine, and I will absolutely repurchase it.

EDIT: you’ll need about 3x the recommended amt. see r/laundry on Reddit
For years I’ve been searching for fragrance-free products that actually work. If you’ve ever tried the usual “Free & Clear” options, you probably know the story: they’re marketed as gentle, but most of them underperform. Tide Free & Gentle (or “Gentle Free & Clear,” whatever they’re calling it now) doesn’t clean nearly as well as regular Tide. All Free & Clear and Kirkland Free & Clear are even weaker. And when Tide Ultra Stain Release Free & Clear was discontinued, it felt like the last great option was gone. Dirty Labs has completely changed that. Their Unscented Bio Laundry Detergent is the first fragrance-free formula I’ve found that actually matches or exceeds the cleaning power of mainstream detergents. The yardstick in my house is my husband’s laundry: he has extremely oily skin and hair, and most fragrance-free detergents simply can’t get his clothes and pillowcases clean and free of sebum residue. Dirty Labs can. The only mainstream product that comes close right now is All Free & Clear Odor Relief, but even that doesn’t perform quite as consistently. With Dirty Labs, everything comes out fresh, soft, and truly clean. And it only takes two teaspoons per load. Now, about those pumps. I’ve seen some reviewers complain about having to pump eight times. Honestly? It takes maybe 15 seconds. That’s not a flaw, that’s just concentrated detergent in action. You can either pump straight into your washer’s detergent compartment or use the little silicone cup that comes with the system and toss it right in with your clothes. It’s neat, tidy, and easy. What really elevates the experience, though, is the Reusable Erlenmeyer Glass Flask. This is one of the most thoughtful product designs I’ve ever seen in a cleaning product. The glass feels sturdy and high-quality in your hand, the proportions are comfortable to hold, and it looks beautiful sitting out on the shelf. No more ugly plastic jugs, no more industrial packaging that you want to hide away — just clean lines and timeless design. It’s eco-friendly, it’s reusable, and it turns laundry into a routine I actually don’t mind. The flask plus the detergent together feel like a well-thought-out system, not just a product. And while I was switching over, I decided to try the Dishwasher Detergent too. It’s every bit as effective as the laundry detergent. Dishes come out sparkling, without residue or synthetic fragrance. No heavy perfumes masking “clean,” just actual clean. Between the laundry detergent, the flask, and the dishwasher detergent, Dirty Labs has created a complete system for the home that’s sustainable, safe, and effective. I’ve been so impressed that I bought sets for my mom and both of my adult daughters. When you find something that works this well, you want to share it. Dirty Labs solved a problem I’ve had for years: how to get truly clean clothes and dishes without relying on harsh, heavily scented mainstream products or disappointing “free & clear” versions that don’t do the job. If you’re on the fence, here’s my advice: don’t just buy one piece — get the whole system. The Unscented Laundry Detergent, the Erlenmeyer Glass Flask, and the Dishwasher Detergent. Together they make cleaning simple, elegant, and effective. This is one of those rare cases where you really can have it all: eco-conscious design, fragrance-free formulas, and powerful cleaning performance.

Dirty Labs is here to stay
I have to admit, I was skeptical about switching to a plant-based detergent, but Dirty Labs completely won me over. I tried both the Original and Murasaki scents, and they are game-changers for my laundry routine. First off, a little goes a long way. The bottles are tiny, but the cleaning power is huge. It completely knocks out sweat smells and random stains without leaving that heavy, soapy film on my clothes. Everything just feels genuinely clean and soft. The scents are where these really shine. The Original has this wonderfully crisp, classic freshness that isn't overwhelming at all. But Murasaki is my absolute favorite. It smells incredibly high-end and relaxing—like a spa day for your clothes. Plus, it doesn't irritate my skin, and I love knowing it's better for the planet. If you're on the fence about eco-friendly detergents, definitely give these a shot!

Perfect for pocket diapers and inserts!
I use this detergent for my baby’s pocket diapers and inserts and it cleans extremely well. I’ve done a bit of research on what’s the best for removing ammonia odor and poop stains while also not having any of the bad stuff like endocrine disruptors and microplastics. This is it! After the first load of pocket diapers and inserts were washed there was no smell at all and no stains I was very impressed. Will certainly be purchasing more

Disappointed
I am a bit disappointed after reading reviews and thinking this is the ticket!! My daughter works at KFC and that smell just won’t come out. It came close after washing twice back to back along with the recommended 3 scoops of the powder each time. But still left some of that smell. The fragrance disappears after the wash too.

Love This
I love ,love this detergent. It leaves clothes smelling clean and fresh, not heavily scented. And the cleaning power is amazing for a non-toxic detergent. I always have problems with clothes getting clean with most non-toxic detergent, but I think this one checks all the boxes. I wash a LOT of clothes and my one son is a heavy equipment mechanic and his work clothes are very dirty. I would say this comes close to Tide in getting the grease out. Especially when you combine it with dirty labs boi enzyme booster. I put my detergent in a clear squirt bottle and it is so easy to just put in a teaspoon (estimate) squirt. And I love the fact that it only takes a teaspoon for most loads. This is a great product.

EXCELLENT detergent!!
If I could give this detergent 10 stars I would. I have been waiting for a detergent like this for decades. It cleans better than ANY detergent I have ever used, it doesn’t have a chemical smell and a tiny bit goes a long way which protects my washing machine and my budget. I am chemically sensitive and Also have a very good sense of smell. I am extra aware of wether my clothes Actually smell clean without fragrances to conceal what isNT being cleaned. So laundry coming out still smelling really bothers me but I can’t use conventional laundry detergents due to the fragrances and the scent free ones I tried just didn’t actually clean my laundry and still had that not quite clean laundry smell. I am DELIGHTED with this brand. It actually cleans my laundry and it smells fresh because it’s actually clean. I have really put it through the wringer too with dirt, grass stains, all kinds of food stains, sweat stains, blood from a skinned knee, and more. It gets EVERYthing out. It even brightened up an old duvee cover that was “clean”. It took out all the musty smells, old fragrance smells and made it look vibrant and brand new again (it had been looking dull and grungy). This seemed expensive when I bought it the first time because you get an 8 ounce bottle, and I was like there’s no way that this is gonna last as long as they say. But it did. You really truly do not need very much. My clothes are the cleanest they’ve ever been. I’m still shocked every time I wash something that I haven’t worn in a while and it comes out cleaner then when I put it on. Also, being chemically sensitive I do not tolerate synthetic fragrances at all. Like zero. I tried other brands that claim to be natural and I still get reactions to them. I have zero reaction to both scents in this brand. I’m not claiming that all people that are chemically sensitive would have the same experience as me, But both sense are gentle, they’re not overpowering, they didn’t cause my skin to react and they didn’t give me my typical chemical sensitivity reaction either. The good smell was present but was not overwhelming - and I love that I can finally have clean detergent AND a pretty scent on it. And if for some reason you don’t want scents, they offer a fragrance free option. I highly recommend this detergent. It is hard to impress me when it comes to laundry detergent. I really dived deep into experimenting with different brands and different types for a while, and this is my number #1 pick. Even though it’s a little bottle, I spend less money overall on this detergent. And it Actually cleans the laundry and doesnt just gloss over with fragrances. I absolutely love it. It deserves 10 stars.

Unscented is scented!! Be warned!
It's not unscented. Drove my aesthma way up and may have ruined my sheets and clothes. F--- this brand. Also, as others have stated, the bottle design is CRAP. I hate it when products position themselves as 'premium' but are less useful than the basic brands at the damn grocery store...disappointing.
