Murray EQ500 18" Self Propelled Rotary Petrol Lawn Mower with Briggs & Stratton 500E Series Petrol Engine

I took the plunge and bought a new mower.After quite a bit of research decided the EQ400 was the one for me. Was about to order at the full price of £199 and noticed that there was an 'Opened Box' one in Amazon Warehouse at £147. So I took a chance and I have to say I cannot see why it was reduced, it is like brand new - maybe it was a return.It assembled reasonably easily and when I get a good day I will try it out, although I cant imagine it will not be good. I downloaded all the manuals and spare parts lists off the Murray Web Site without any problem. Only thing is I wouldn't know where to order parts from because the UK dealer is listed as Amazon.

It's a lawnmower. We don't buy them very often so not really in a position to tell you whether it is better or worse than any others. However our decision for purchasing was principally the Briggs and Stratton Engine, which all of our previous lawnmowers have had and they have all worked well. Its relatively easy to put together and so far starts first time which is great. The height is easier to adjust than others we have had. Sill a bit of a pain for oil changes as it has to be poured out rather than via a drain plug - guess that keeps manufacturing costs down. Works fine.

After fighting with a self propelled mower for the last couple of years (in my hilly and irregular shaped garden) I opted for a `non-powered' mower' and what a dream this is! starts with the first pull, is light, easy to manoeuvre and has an ample grass collector.I was a bit concerned that the lowest setting might not be close enough but it is perfect. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Mowing my lawn has become a pleasure once again.

Easy to put together, fill up with fuel and 4 strome oil and started first time. I have a 100ft x 60ft garden and this is going to save so much time over my old electric mower. Really pleased with it 👏👏👏

easy to set up, easily adjustable and starts with one pull of the rope (just make sure you press the primer button more 6 or 7 times). great cut with good adjustability.

Very pleased. It is a large mower with great power and finish. Starts so easy and cuts beautifully.

Only used the mower twice. This time the engine conked out and won’t start, I’ve owned a few petrol mowers without problem. This one is a dud.
